Come What Maybe Kerri Carpenter

Description:
Social media strategist Lauren Wallace plans everything. But when she returns to the charming—if not too small for comfort—town of Seaside Cove, it’s only about a second before her tough-love Grams is already on her case. So when Grams tells her not to go to that bar, Lauren decides it’s time for a temporary rebellion. Which is exactly when the trouble starts.

Grams was right. The bar was not a good plan. Because suddenly super-cute bar owner Ethan McAllister has gone from being Lauren’s (kind of) high school nemesis to a very unexpected one-night stand. And worse, Lauren’s attempts to resume her ultra-responsible life keep getting thwarted by more unwelcome spontaneity. And a pregnancy.

Now there’s a baby on the way, Lauren’s the talk of the entire town, and all her planning has gone right out the window. All that’s missing is childbirth to make her pain complete. But it’ll be nothing compared to Grams’s reaction when she finds out that Lauren broke the biggest rule of all…falling for the wrong guy.

My Review:
This is a new to me author, while I was not a huge fan of this book I would plan on giving this author another shot. I have to say one of the things I dreaded was the start of the book the author stated off with the pandemic and honestly I am so over hearing, reading or even thinking about the pandemic at this point and everything Pandemic related. I just with the author would have found maybe another way to handle situations around that or just left it out completely. I did like Ethen a lot he was such a down to earth free spirit who just lived his best life the way he knew how, and did not let anything stop him. He cared for those close to him and he had a big heart. I loved Rose and Gabby they are spite fires and will tell it like they see it. I was not a huge fan of Brooke of Lauren I know being sisters you fight/argue but they felt like they had more of a Love to hate each other relationship it just didn't seem to fit sisterly love. I felt in the end this book was just not for me.

Charming the Billionaire Cowboy Kris Bock

 Description:
For the first time, his cowboy charms seem to backfire…

With his Texas ranching family’s lottery win, TC Tomlinson is finally able to build a ranch with alternative livestock. TC has a lot to prove, starting with his new ostrich herd, so when he catches a beauty scooping up an escaped baby bird, TC chases her down, assuming she wants to meet him for his money.

When Hallie Armstrong sees the injured baby ostrich, she jumps into professional mode. A former vet tech, she’s moved to Last Stand to work at her aunt's wildlife rescue and heal from an attack. She’s skittish of the handsome cowboy, but when he starts to flirt, she decides two can play at this game—the rescue needs fundraising, and TC is an eligible bachelor.

As they brainstorm ideas for a bachelor auction and work to solve the mystery of local sheep attacks, TC finds himself falling for the feisty cowgirl. But when he learns she’s still in danger, his protective instincts threaten to drive Hallie away. Can TC convince Hallie she can have her independence and him too?

My Review:
I really liked the first book, so I was really excited to get my hands on this next book in the series. Hallie faced some very tough things and she was not going to let that stop her from living her best life. TC was always willing to help his neighbors, friends and those he loved and cared for, which with both these characters I like I felt it just made them relatable. However I was not a huge fan of both of them throughout the whole book I found them to both come off very juvenile and slightly immature which sometime came off a little annoying sometimes. I really did enjoy catching up with Ava, John and Carly from book one, I loved how Carly and Ava where little matchmakers "behind" the scenes, but Carly was very much the bull from book one there really is no messing with her and her family. I can say I honestly can't wait to see where the author takes Cody and Xander. Overall I liked the story and I was glad that the author kept this a good clean read so its suitable for all, it was very quick read for me as well.

The Texas Cowboy's Lady by Debra Holt

Description:
Which shines brighter: Hollywood lights or the Texas stars?

Laurel Burkitt, who owns half of the mega-ranching empire known as the Aces High, shook the Texas dirt off her stilettos a long time ago. She’s all about high fashion, sleek cars, and adding movie awards to her shelves. No dark-eyed, sexy, hard-driving, country-living cowboy is going to rope her into being his country darlin'…as long as her brain keeps control over the traitorous yearnings of her heart.

Jaxson Hawkes, foreman of the Aces High, was born to the saddle and to being a cowboy all his days. So it took him a while to finally bare his soul to the spitfire he grew up adoring. He expected Laurel to choose between him and Texas and her dream of California gold. Her choice broke his heart.

Now Laurel’s back and her ideas of merging California with Texas aren’t sitting too well with Jaxson. There’s a showdown coming between them, and when the dust clears, will he send her packing on that shiny plane once and for all? Or will the lady claim the cowboy's heart for good?

My Review:

I typically like this authors books a lot they have that small town feel to them and usually will suck me into the story, however this book was not for me. I felt a lot of the back in forth was very childish and annoying, I also felt the purpose of the back and forth went on for way to long and then in the end the story seemed rush to tie it up in to a nice big bow. I will say I did like catch up with Sammi Jo and Beau from the first book it was fun to see how far the story has come. I also like Jaxson a little bit when he was not at odds with Laurel he seemed like an old soul whole would do anything to protect those he loved and really cared about those close to him heft very relatable in those moments. Over all this book just wasn't for me the author did keep the story a clean read.

Take a vacation with
New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray as she explores what happens when we allow our pasts to define our futures in this story of friendship, romance, and new beginnings.

My Review:
I did like this story overall it has some good lessons in it. However I did find that this book is more for a younger (teenage maybe early 20's) reader. If you have ever been bullied or been a bully this book hits it home how it affects both sides of the coin. I liked all the characters, however some of my favorite was Joy she was a pistol and so feisty she said it like she saw it and held nothing back for sure one of my favorites. I also really like Nancy she felt more like a surrogate mom to all those that came into her in she was wise and willing to give advice if needed and willing to help even in the little things she overall was my favorite. I found that this book was a clean read and over all would be suitable for all ages.

Something Old, Something New Amy Clipston

Description:

Sometimes treasure can be found where you least expect it.

In the decade since high school graduation, Christine Sawyer has realized her dream of opening Treasure Hunting Antique Mall, the place where shoppers find gems that are new to them. Between her store, her house, and her role as a doting aunt, she’s happy with her life—if a bit lonely. But she’s used to being less lucky in love than her fraternal twin sister. Britney was always the popular one, the head cheerleader who dated the homecoming king and quarterback, while Christine stayed in the shadows.

Brent Nicholson is still trying to come to grips with the shambles his life has become. After leading his football team to a state championship, he suffered a career-ending injury. Now he’s lost his construction business thanks to his so-called best friend. So when his great-aunt Midge asks for his help readying her home to put it on the market, the opportunity to spend time with his biggest fan is a balm to his bruised soul.

But the antiques Brent finds in his aunt’s house lead him to an unexpected partnership with Christine. After being blind to her for so many years, is it too late for the former high school jock to win the heart of the self-proclaimed “nerdy twin”?

As they shift through items of the past, Christine and Brent learn to let go of the pieces they don’t want to bring into the future—and realize the value of what’s in front of them today.

“Hometown charm and swoon-worthy second chances make this a must read.” —Kristen Mckanagh, author of Snowball’s Christmas

  • Sweet, stand-alone contemporary romance
  • Book length: approximately 90,000 words
  • Includes discussion questions for book clubs
  • More contemporary romance to love by Amy Clipston:?The Heart of Splendid Lake and The View from Coral Cove

My Review:
This is a small town romance and was a fun read for me! The one question that kept coming to mind when reading this book was, Why are we so obsessed with what other think about how we live our lives. I found that both Brent and Christine struggled with self worth and yet that did not stop them from living the best life they could and being there for those who they cared about. I was not a fan of Britney, she was not nice at all and I feel like Pam summed her up perfectly in the book. I loved Pam and Steve they were the greatest of friends and the biggest of cheerleaders for Brent and Chris. I also really love aunt Midge she was so feisty and when she spoke everyone listened, we all need a Midge in our lives. Overall the author kept this a clean read and so its suitable for all and I loved the simplicity of it.

Critical Threat Lynette Eason

 Description:
FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn't mean they're not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer--in prison but certainly not out of Sam's life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter's MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They've met before--and though Grace thought they'd made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They'll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case--especially because it's about to get personal.

USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason doesn't give you time to catch your breath in this breakneck race to stop a serial killer.

My Review:

This book was so amazing, I could not put it down. It will put you on the edge of. your seat. I really like Grace she was a really a strong independent women and she was a fighter and would stop at nothing to catch this killer. Sam was so broken over who his is and it seems to cost him so much and also some just can't seem to let it go. I really liked Vanessa she was someone everyone needs in there life she was loyal and would call it like she saw it all why showing those she loved unconditional love and support, she hands down was my favorite. I think this is a powerful book and because of the subject matter may be rough for some. However is you like true crime and like a little edge of you seat then this book is just what you need. Overall this author kept this book a clean read and its worth it.
