Secret Service Setup Jessica R. Patch (Security Specialists #2)

Description:

A federal agent in the crosshairs

Can The Security Specialists protect him?

Secret Service agent Evan Novak becomes the target of multiple hit men when someone puts a two-million-dollar bounty on his head. Is it the gunrunner he’s tracking...or a traitorous agent? Framed and wanted, Evan reluctantly accepts protection from bodyguard Jody Gallagher, his former love who lost her Agency career because of him. But then the bounty is raised to include Jody…

My thoughts on the book:

Jody has a lot of things she has been dealt in her life but one thing she is not ready to deal with is her  ex boyfriend thats one thing she wants to just stay in the past. When someone hires the security firm she's working for she's thrown together with Evan and needs to keep it professional keep that past in the past and protect those who seem to be after her and Evan. Evan is on the way of making it to Assistant Director when things go rouge he's left on the run trying to get to the bottom of it all and trying to protect him and Jody. Can he proctor them both and there hearts or will it come to a head?

I really enjoyed this book there was not one moment where I did not find the book dragging or slowing down. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. I loved how Jody and Evan both seemed real and not fiction, they both seemed broken and looking to heal from the past and deal with the present. There relationship with God was tested and each one handled the situation there own way while trying to encourage the other to get through what ever they were facing. This book was a good clean read and so amazing could not put it down, so amazing.

When the Stars Come Out Laura Trentham- A Cottonbloom Novel #5

Description:

Cottonbloom. A beautiful, faraway place where a woman can escape her past—and find reason to stay forever in Laura Trentham's When the Stars Come Out. . .

Willa Brown never planned to stay in Cottonbloom. She was on the way to somewhere else when she landed there and found work at the Abbot brothers’ garage. . .and a sense of comfort and safety that she had never known. The same holds true for Jackson Abbott himself. With one glance in her direction, he can make Willa’s heart melt. But what begins as an unrequited crush turns into something far more powerful than Willa could have ever imagined. . .

Jackson’s most meaningful relationship has always been with his car—and he’s not afraid to admit it. Still, he can’t help but become emotionally entangled with his new star mechanic Willa, who is definitely hiding some dark secrets of her own beneath the hood. Jackson desperately wants Willa to trust him, and to seek protection in his arms. But even as the two slowly surrender to their shared attraction, the danger lurking in Willa’s past remains a stubborn obstacle. Can she open up enough to give them both a chance at having real and lasting love?

My thoughts on the book:

Willa is on the run from a past she would like to break free from but she is finally in a place where she feels some what safe. She can't seem to get one person out of her head and as long as she can stay invisible then she will be ok. Jackson is dealing with family drama and the loss of his dad. When he finally notices Willa and it seems like she may run from whatever she is hiding from. Can he convince her to stay and trust him with the truth of the past or will the past coming back and send her into a panic?

I did enjoy this story, I loved the city of Cottonbloom and the fun characters. I love Aunt Hazel and Aunt Hy they seem like they would be such fun people to hang around. I did however feel like the author dragged out some of Willa's and it was a constant build up then she would move on to a twist in the story. I started to loose some interest in the story. I did enjoy while the story seemed predictable towards the end of the book the author through a twist in that you didn't see coming. This book does have adult scenes and language. I can't wait to here more of Mack's story. Overall this book was a super fun and fast read.

Should've Been You Nicole McLaughlin -A Man Enough Romance #3

Description:

Childhood neighbors get a chance at love in Should’ve Been You, an achingly romantic novella in Nicole McLaughlin’s Man Enough series!

National Guardsman Jase Beckford wants to live a quiet life raising cattle and taking care of his mother. His childhood friend and neighbor Hannah is still his best friend, but when he walks into the Walters house one morning and sees her twin sister Becca for the first time in five years, he wonders if he missed out on something special.

Becca Walters has nursed a secret crush on Jase since childhood, but he always preferred Hannah, so she buried her feelings assuming her sister and Jase would one day turn their flirtation into a real relationship. And this Christmas, she is anticipating a proposal of her own, so Jase’s reappearance in her life doesn’t mean anything. Much. Okay, maybe more than Becca would like to admit.

However, when Becca’s sister gets engaged to someone who’s not Jase, Becca and Jase find themselves spending more together. And when secrets are revealed, suddenly those dormant feelings come back to life; but is the possibility of something between them worth risking the happiness of everyone they love?

My thoughts on the book:
Jase is finally happy to be back in his home town and to hopefully have a successful ranch one day. When he comes face to face with his best friends sister the one person he's always wanted but she always thought better that anyone he wonders if this is going to work if she sticks around. Becca is home for the holidays and when she runs into her crush she wants to do anything and everything to try and avoid him but it seems he is more in her life then she planned. Can they be around each other and not let there feelings come to the surface or will what they want ruin relationships with others?

I liked how the author didn’t just make the chemistry happen it was a gradual build up and the boom like a bomb going off. This book was super sweet love story. I was a bit disappointed to see it end because I really enjoyed all the characters. I hope to find out more about Aiden and Hannah. This book does have strong language and adult scenes but it was a super fun read. I have not read any of the other books in the series and I had not problem following the story at all. I do want to go back and read the other stories if they are anything like this I am sure they will be just as amazing.

Saving the Sheriff Kadie Scott- The Hills of Texas Book 1

Description:
There's a storm brewing...

The day his wife died, Sheriff Cash Hill discovered she was leaving him for another man, one she'd loved since before their marriage. How could the single dad ever trust another woman again? But when Georgia's best friend, Holly, comes back to town, something about Holly's sweet, sassy vulnerability has his protective instincts kicking in hard.

Holly Jensen left La Colina, Texas with regrets. She's returned home to work as the new large animal vet and to watch over her best friend's daughter. But Holly's knowledge of Georgia's past could rip a family apart. And she's reluctant to go to the sexy…and single…sheriff, as he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with her.

Both are faced with a choice…stay locked in the past or allow their reservations to be silenced by a passion hotter than Texas summer nights. Can they learn to trust their own hearts and each other?

My thoughts on the book:
Holly is back home in La Colina after college and is hoping that people can just let go of the past and the rumors. She knows that nothing will stop her from looking over he best friends daughter now that she's gone nothing including Cash. Cash is set to do anything and everything to avoid Holly she is everything he doesn't want or so he thinks. But when a secret is reviled he wonders if maybe there is more to her or if he is making the best decision to avoid her. Can they come together as friends and figure this all out or are they better left on their tasks at hand?

I thought this was a sweet love story. I think that the biggest thing that Holly needs to work through in this book is was finding a way to forgive herself for some decisions she had made in the past. She is this super strong women who has a huge caring heart and she loved helping those who needed help, animals and humans alike. I really enjoyed the banter between Holly, Will, Carter and Cash. Cash was completely likable and this story has a twist I can honestly say I haven't read in a book in a long time. This book does have adult scene, and some language. I really enjoyed reading this fun story and it was so worth the read.

On the Edge Dani Collins- (Blue Spruce Lodge #1)

Description:
When Glory Cormer’s father introduces her to ‘their’ new business partner, she’s appalled. Viking-like Rolf Johansson exudes the same alpha-intimidation that jocks used to torment her through high school. After nursing her mother the last several years, she’s trying to break out of her shell and secretly pursue a writing career, but Rolf insists she go through with the rotten deal her father struck with his brother to renovate an old chalet.

Rolf envisions this mountain as a world-class resort for elite athletes and other jet setters. As a downhill champion and owner of a world-renowned sports equipment empire, he knows what it takes to get what he wants. Nothing will stop him, especially not a hotheaded wallflower who turns the ice in his veins to lava.

Bonus Story! This book contains Glory’s novella Blessed Winter, a no-room-at-the-inn Christmas romance.

My thoughts on the book:
Glory is dealing with the loss of her mother when her dad get this hair brain idea and not she is along for the ride. But her dream is to keep writing and hopes that it will help cover the cost for dad's craziness. Rolf has lost and now he it helping his brother get this ski resort off the ground only problem is he has a board to answer to and nothing seems to be going his way. Can the two of them get along just long enough to see it this project will even work?

I will say this book as some super explosive scenes in it and it does offer a small story inside so its like you're getting two in one which is kind of fun. I loved Glory she had this soft side but don't mess with her she can be explosive too. She wants to find herself so she's dealing with a lot of pain and hurt but over all she was just easy to connect with. I had a love hate relationship with Rolf. I found him a little annoying and the author made him completely unrelatable for most the book so it was kind of frustrating some times. This book is a steamy romance and is full of adult language and scenes so if thats what your looking for this book is for you.

Champagne and Daisies S.J. McCoy The Hamiltons series #2

Description:
One night out. One balmy evening in Napa Valley. One man, letting loose before embarking on a new business venture. One woman, letting her hair down after another fight with her father over how she runs her winery—and her life. One too many glasses of wine. What does it all add up to? A one night stand.

Chelsea Hamilton has led a charmed life. She’s a golden girl who has it all. She grew up in the lap of luxury surrounded by a loving family. She’s no spoiled little rich girl, though. She has a huge heart, a kind heart, a giving heart – a heart that sometimes blinds her to the more practical considerations in life—and business. She just wants to be allowed to run the winery her way. Okay, so the profit margins might not be in line with the rest of Hamilton-Groves, but it’s not like she’s making a loss.
Unfortunately, her father believes she can be brought into line and he’s hired Grant Dawson to turn the winery around, and to teach Chelsea a few lessons in the process.

Grant’s eager to prove his worth to the patriarch of Hamilton-Groves. He’s masterminded dozens of successful corporate turnarounds. He doesn’t foresee many difficulties in whipping a little winery into shape. It should be a straightforward job that will hopefully lead to more work with the Hamilton Groves Corporation.
It should be, it would be—if the woman he’s supposed to be helping wasn’t the very same woman he hasn’t been able to get out of his mind since he let her out of his bed twenty-four hours ago. How’s he supposed to focus on turning the business around when he doesn’t know if he’s more infuriated or infatuated? Whichever it is, Chelsea’s fighting him every step of the way.

My thoughts on the book:
Chelsea is having a bad day when her best friend drags her out for a night food, fun and dancing what more could you ask for. When things take a turn she wonders what other decisions she it making that may or may not need to be relooked at. Grant is back in his home town and he wants this to work out he wants to find away to continue to make a name for himself and maybe stay. When he meets a girl at the club and has a one night stand he just cant seem to get her out of his mind and wonders what could have been. Can Chelsea and Grant get the answers they both seek and help each other or are the better off on there own?
I am so loving the Hamiltons' and there family. They aren't perfect and they don't try to be they are rich but don't think twice at helping those around them. I really enjoy how each story ends with a semi-colon to bring awareness. I really loved how Chelsea was this strong independent person who was not going to back down from anything. This book does have adult language and situations. However this book was such a fun read and I can't wait for more from this fun family. ( I am hoping Mary Ellen story is next.) You really can't go wrong with this book or this series.

Imperfect Justice Cara C. Putman- Hidden Justice #2

Description:
To the world it seems obvious: Kaylene Adams killed her daughter and then was shot by police. Attorney Emilie Wesley knows a different story: Kaylene would never hurt anyone and was looking for a way out of a controlling, abusive relationship. Her death shakes Emilie’s belief that she can make a difference for women in violent marriages. Self-doubt plagues her as she struggles to continue her work in the wake of the tragedy.

Reid Billings thought he knew his sister—right up until he learned how she died. He discovers a letter from Kaylene begging him to fight for custody of her daughters if anything should happen to her. No attorney in her right mind would support an uncle instead of the father in a custody case, but Kaylene’s letter claims Emilie Wesley will help him.

Thrown together in the race to save Kaylene’s surviving daughter, Emily and Reid pursue the constantly evasive truth. If they can hang on to hope together, can they save a young girl—and find a future for themselves in the process?

My thoughts on the book:
Emilie wonders if she can do it anymore can she really help those who cant help themselves. When her life is turned upside down she knows she has to keep fighting and get justices for the silenced. Reid it thrown into a role of trying to protect his niece he just needs to know who to trust and who might not be as safe as he thought. His whole world it thrown upside down but he will stop at nothing to help his niece. Can they work together and get the help for Kaylene's little girl or will there be more to it in the back ground they are unaware of?
This book is amazing I can't even. This book deals with some really tough subjects and there is not even a slow part in this book from page one to the very last page I had a hard time putting it down. I loved how the author held nothing back. This story could be anyone's story such an eyeopening read. This book is so worth the read I loved how it sucks you in and you can't go wrong. This book is a super clean read and no strong language.

The Crown Prince's Bride Donna Alward

Description:
A Crown Prince gets a second chance at love with the woman who’s always been there - in the next book in the prince duology from Donna Alward!

The Crown Prince of Marazur is suffering from a broken heart. After losing his wife and future queen, he knows he’ll never find love again with a partner as wonderful as her. He’s thrown himself into his duties and is trying to be a better father to his two children, but he’s lonely. Even though falling in love seems impossible, so does spending the rest of his life alone.

Stephani has been Raoul’s assistant for years. Smart, loyal, and discreet, Stephani is fantastic at her job. Except for the fact that she’s been in love with her boss since her first week of employment, not that she would ever act on it. Besides, Raoul is first in line to the throne and she’s his assistant. If Raoul ever marries again, it’ll be with someone who can be a future queen. Not someone like Stephani.

When Raoul’s date for a state dinner is unable to attend, he invites Stephani. She’s well-versed on the issues and castle protocol, and Raoul’s always been comfortable with her. But when Stephani arrives, Raoul hardly recognizes her. Is this stunning woman the same one who’s run his office for years?

The Crown Prince’s Bride is the ultimate fairy tale for readers looking for Cinderella to get her prince—and be able to keep him past midnight.

My thoughts on the book:
Stephani has had a crush on Raoul and she has kept it a secret and plans too as she thinks nothing will come of it. Being his assistant and being able to be there for him and her cousins kids is more important. Raoul has lost two women who have been closest to him and he is never going to marry again. When things go array in his life he knows he can always lean on Steph. Can they find hope for a relationship or is the working relationship all they will end up with?

I really enjoyed this book and I loved how the author made Stephani this amazing strong women who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. I really enjoyed the story I think the only thing that I felt was I wished there was more, not that the story was lacking just wished it was longer such a fun read. The story is over all a pretty clean read it does have adult situations and topics but over all a fun story. This story is somewhat predictable but the story was so sweet.

New Year's at the Graff Marin Thomas

Description:
After being banned from celebrating the holidays with his stepfamily, San Diego businessman Lucas Kendrick arrives in Marietta, Montana, in time to attend the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Graff Hotel. The rodeo-theme party isn’t his style but he’s drawn to the pretty cowgirl running the dice table. When the clock strikes midnight and they ring in the New Year with a kiss, Lucas almost forgets he’s in Marietta on business and not pleasure. He believes he’s found the perfect property for his prized client. There’s just one problem—the pretty cowgirl has her sights set on the same piece of real estate.

Now that single mom Ava Moore has earned a business degree, she wants to help other struggling women get back on their feet by opening a co-op on Main Street. The last thing she expects is competition from the handsome city slicker whose New Year’s kiss she hasn’t been able to forget. Lucas isn’t only stealing Ava’s heart he’s bonding with her daughter. Can Ava convince Lucas that the best business deals are made with the heart and not money?

My thoughts on the book:
Ava has worked really hard to get were she is today. She wants to be the best mom she can and raise her daughter to be the strongest ever. She also wants to get this co-op off the ground and help other single moms better themselves. Can that all change when a stranger comes to town and has a different vision for the same building? Lucas has been banished by his step mom so he goes back to the one place his mom has always wanted to go back to. When he gets to Montana he seeks out those who helped and hopes to thank them. Can he find the perfect building for a client and thank the people who helped his mom when things weren't so great for them?

Hands down this book has got to be my favorite book from this series. I loved everything about this book. The story sucks you in a you really don't want to put it down. It pulls on your heart strings and also parts will have you laughing. I love Sophie and Tilly but how could you not those two added a huge element to this wonderful story. I loved how strong Ava and independent she is. I love Marietta if feels like you are catching up with friends instead of reading a book. I really enjoyed that this book was a good clean read and it didn't seem all about sex but about healing and finding hope and love. This book is so worth the read and you really cant go wrong with it.

Once Upon a Texas Christmas Katherine Garbera- Whiskey River Christmas Series #4

Description:
Avery Burton loves her job as assistant to Logan Calloway. A big time Hollywood A-lister, Logan spends all his time on the West Coast leaving her to run his charity in Whiskey River. Staying busy and giving back to the community that is the only real family she’s ever known suits Avery just fine…until Logan announces he’s coming home for Christmas.

Ever since his mother abandoned him as a young boy, Whiskey River hasn't felt like home to Logan Calloway. Still, he heads home for the holidays, intending to reflect on his career and personal life. When he sees his assistant Avery in his home, Logan begins to realize that Whiskey River has more to offer than just bad memories.

As Logan and Avery spend more time together working for the charity, it becomes impossible to deny their chemistry and attraction.

My thoughts on the book:
Avery loves the job she does she gets to be part of helping the community that she has grown to love. The only thing she would love more is if she could feel like she belonged. Logan has been away from Whiskey River for a long time and coming home is not all that its cracked up to be it seems the town he grew up in can't seem to see past the one thing that has always over shadowed his childhood and his life. Can he show the town that his still a good guy or will they only see him for what his childhood once was? Can Avery get over the past and the hurt or will it just all over shadow the future she hopes to have?
I am really loving the town of Whiskey River, while it has its gossip, biddies and over all some really fun loving characters. I am not sure why but when ever I read one of these books out of Whiskey River it feels like I am catching up with friends instead of reading a fiction story. I really loved how vulnerable both Avery and Logan were but also how fun the book was. The book does have some adult language but over all was a super fun read and well worth it.
