The Crushing Depths Dani Pettrey- The Coastal Guardian Series #2

Description:
When an accident claims the life of an oil-rig worker on the first drilling platform off the North Carolina coast, Coast Guard investigators Rissi Dawson and Mason Rogers are sent to take the case. Tensions surrounding the oil rig are high and the death has everyone on edge. Environmental activists are threatening to do whatever it takes to stop the structure from being completed, while rumors are being whispered about ancient curses surrounding this part of the ocean.

Mounting evidence shows the death may not have been an accident at all. Was he killed by one of the activists or, perhaps more frighteningly, a member of his own crew? Rissi and Mason have to sort through not only a plethora of suspects, but also their own past and attraction to each other.

Just as the case seems like it'll break open, worse news arrives. A tropical storm has turned their way and soon they're cut off from any rescue--and right where the killer wants them. It's a race to discover his identity before he eliminates the threat they pose.

My thoughts on the book:

I was so happy when I found out this book was coming out I could not wait to catch up with the CGI Team and the author did not disappoint. I could not put this book down, it will have you on the edge of your seat from page one. I really liked Rissi and Mason's story and I love that they just worked, the chemistry between them did not seemed forced but very natural. As in like book one the author has a few main characters not just 2 or three, but each character plays a huge part in the story and without them the story would not be what it was, also that being said it was not that hard to follow either. I so hope we will get to read more about Em and Logan in the future. This book was a good clean read. This book will not disappoint in any way. If you love a good suspense grab this series. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

With sweet and beautiful Esther he finds a comfort he’s never known, and he feels like anything is possible...even forgiveness. But she was Jacob’s bride-to-be first. And if she knew the truth, would she ever truly open her heart to him?

My thoughts on the book:

This story was cute and does get to the heart of the matter for sure. I deals with loss and finding yourself. With both Lucas and Esther each dealing with where they belong.  I did find Esther a little whinny and I felt like Lucas had a big heart and he seemed to really want what was best for his people. I did feel like in some parts the book dragged a little. I did enjoy that the author kept the book  a good clean read and is suitable for all. I enjoyed both Esther and Lucas Mom's they truly just shined in this book. If you are looking for a clean read with some fun characters check this book out. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. Lizzie finds herself falling for the caring man who craves the country and small-town life as much as she does.

Except Nicolas has a secret that will shatter both their dreams...

My thoughts on the book:

So I have never read anything by this author or in this series and if the other books in the series are half as good as this one then I can't wait to read them. I could not put this book down the author has a way of drawing you and where you loose all sense of time and you need to know what's going to happen. I was a fan of Nicolas for most of the book but there was on part where I literally wanted to just reach into the book and punch him.... UGH!! Hands down one of my favorite characters in the book was Ms. Thornton, her story was so powerful and just seem to leave its mark on your heart for sure. I understand why the author wrote her, but to me it just seemed like so much more. This book was a good clean read and was a quick read. I so want more. So worth grabbing it you won't be disappointed. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Wrangling the Cowboys Heart Leah Vale

Description:

His little sister’s best friend…

The moment Amanda Rodrigues placed her hand over his heart to break up a fight, rancher Liam Neisson knew he was in trouble. He may have watched Amanda grow up next door and run in and out of his house indulging in wild escapades with his sister, but at this year’s rodeo, he suddenly can no longer think of her as the dark-haired little orphan girl running wild. She’s now a stubborn brown-eyed beauty who needs his help.

Her best friend’s big brother…

Sure she’s crushed on Liam all her life, but can she trust him? Barrel racer Amanda recently inherited her parents' small dream ranch years ago, and has learned to run it with little help, but when a letter arrives from an attorney saying his client has a promissory note now due, Amanda knows even her will and hard work ethic won’t be enough. Liam’s family offers to help, but his offer to buy her prized stallion raises her suspicions. What if Amanda is risking more than her heart?

My thoughts on the book:

I really enjoyed this quick read. The characters just worked if that makes sense. You have Liam who is a fighter but is dealing with pain after the loss of his mom but still whiling to fight for those he loves. You have Amanda who has spent her whole life dealing with loss and she’s her self is fighting the unknown but will stop at nothing to protect her families legacy. The way the author keeps you guessing especially with Uncle Red makes you wonder what is going to happen next. Can I just say how much I like Ian and want to know what happens with him. This book does have adult situation but over all was a quick and fun read so well worth it.

On a Coastal Breeze Suzanne Woods Fisher

Description:

For Madison Grayson, life is good. Newly licensed as a marriage and family therapist, she can't wait to start her practice. Despite the unfortunate shortage of eligible bachelors on the island--they're all too young, too old, or too weird--Maddie feels like she's finally found her sweet spot. Not even one panic attack in the last year. Not one.

And then Ricky O'Shea drops in. Literally. Floating down from the pure blue sky, the one man in the world she hoped never to see again--the one who'd been her archnemesis from kindergarten through her senior dance--parachutes into town, landing on Boon Dock, canopy draping behind him like a superhero. Ricky O'Shea. Now Pastor Rick, the new minister on Three Sisters Island.

Time to panic.

With wit and a bit of whimsy, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Three Sisters Island where family, forgiveness, and a second chance at love await.

My thoughts on the book:

I really enjoyed  this story I was however not a fan of so many characters I wish the author would have just stuck with just two characters. I really wanted more from Rick and his thoughts and feeling, up to the end he felt more of a mystery that not. I did feel like we heard a lot more of Cam and Seth's story and Madi and Rick's story was just kind of thrown in instead of the other way around. I get this story was geared around the family, I guess I just wanted more and felt like something was missing a little. I did like being able to catch up with Cam and Seth. I don’t know why but I feel like I can relate with Blaine I really can’t wait to read her story. I love the banter between Peg and Paul and the fun and with the other characters. Over all this book is a clean read and is worth the read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Steve Parker needs a wife, now, if he has any hopes of winning his local DA election and becoming the advocate for the underserved he’s always dreamed of being. The sweet waitress seems like just the person—if he can get her to agree.

One year of marriage—no strings, no personal attachments. Becky gets the insurance funds she needs for her son’s surgery while Steve’s poll ratings soar. Neither planned on a commitment in their future, so they should have no problem making it through the year without getting emotionally involved, right?

Except Becky’s holding on to a secret from her past—one that would change everything.

My thoughts on the book:

I never know what I’m going to get with a book when the storyline is marriage of convince. This book however was super adorable I loved Bryon his personality really shined through. I had a love/dislike with Steve at first he comes off as everyone should just love me no matter what, but he grew on me really quick and the author did a good job and showing his heart but still making him a fighter. Oh my Becky is a fighter and my heart truly just broke for her sometimes in the book, she knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it when it comes to Bryon. This is a first book for me by this author and I want to much more. Such a good read and I like that the author kept it a clean read.
