The Art of Keeping Secrets Rachael Johns

Description:
Some Secrets Weren't Meant to Be Kept…

They started out as the "misfit moms"—the trio of less-than-conventional parents at their sons' tony private school. They've shared everything. Or so they thought. Now, on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City, they'll sightsee, they'll shop, they'll catch a few Broadway shows. They'll tell all…

After seventeen years as a single parent, Neve will reveal a past sin that could destroy her relationship with her son. Emma will uncover the roots of her exhaustion and divulge the inappropriate feelings she has for her boss. And Flick—who knows a little about crafting a flawless exterior—will share the shocking truth that lies beneath the veneer of her perfect marriage.

When the tight hold they've each kept on their secrets for years begins to slip, they must face the truth. Even if the truth will forever alter the course of their friendship and their lives.

My thoughts on the book:

Secrets can be a good thing or a bad thing. When three friends are faced with secrets that no one else knows about they are forced to decide if it's worth keeping a secret anymore or will it hurt those they love even more and maybe something's are better left private. Three best friends come together to help each other through life trials and the ups and downs, but when they each are faced with a secret they wonder how they will get through it and come out alive.
I wasn't sure what I thought of this book, I was torn through out this book. I didn't feel like I could relate or connect with the characters. As the story went on you realize that while each are faced with something life changing it wasn't about connecting with them but see the value in friendship. I loved how each of of the women stood firm in the weakness but also stood with each other. Over all I did enjoy this book. There are some taboo subjects and some very tough subjects discussed throughout this book I would say this book is deep and if you are not looking of a deep book right now grab one of Racheal's other books and then come grab this one. You seriously will learn a lot from this about friendships and just standing in when someone needs a little help.

Here Comes the Bride Hope Ramsay- Chapel of Love #3

Description:

There goes the groom . . .
For Professor Laurie Wilson, planning her wedding to longtime boyfriend Brandon Kopp has been a whirlwind. But somehow, between all the cake tastings and dress fittings, she never imagined being left at the altar. In the aftermath, she does what any sensible woman would - she swigs champagne and considers keying his car. Until someone knocks on her door with a much better idea for revenge.

Best man Andrew Lyndon thinks Laurie's better off without Brandon. But Laurie's father - and Andrew's boss - isn't going to accept anything less than a reconciliation. And he's made it Andrew's problem to solve. So Andrew decides to make Brandon jealous by setting Laurie up on a string of "dates." After a couple of weeks, Brandon will be begging Laurie to take him back. But Andrew's plan works a little too well because suddenly he's the one falling for Laurie -- and planning a proposal of his own.

My thoughts on the book:

Laurie is left standing at the altar by the man she was suppose to marry, the man who was suppose to love her no matter what. However it seemed he had other plans and she was left trying to figure things out with more questions the answers. Will she be able to get to the bottom too things while everyone else seems to have other plans for her?  Andrew is being pulled every which way and it seems no matter what he does not one is happy. His boss wants him to help Laurie and Brandon get back together. It seems there may be more to everything the meets the eye. Will he be able to be honest to himself and those involved in all of this crazy madness?

I have read the other few of the books in this series and have really enjoyed them, this one was really not a favorite of mine. I felt this book is about matchmaking gone rogue and it added a twist you really didn't accept which added the fun element to this book and you found your self laughing and rolling your eyes at Aunt Pam and her crazy antics. Off the bat the author makes it known Andrew is dealing with a past relationship and healing however he came off more as a push over and kind of didn't have much of a backbone I guess I wanted more from him so it got a little annoying. I did enjoy reading this story it flowed well and Laurie had this empowering kick butt but be a good girl type of attitude which made the book fun to read because you didn't know what was going to happen next. This book does have adult scenes in it. This book is so worth the read if your following this series. I am not sure where the author is going next but I can't wait to ready Courtney, Matt, Roxy, Daniel and Ryan's stories all play a part in this book and super fun characters

Elena’s resolve to avoid romance is tested when she discovers Wesley is the caretaker of her grandfather’s rural property. Soon, she and the cowboy are attending more speed-dating events at the chocolate shop and she’s seeking his advice on how to deal with his ornery boss. Local gossips wager the old Judge will run Elena out of town before anything serious develops between her and Wesley. But Wesley’s a determined man, too, and he’s betting Elena belongs in Marietta forever…with him.

My thoughts on the book:

Elena finds out a family secret and sets off on a journey to find answers. When she stubbles into a speed dating situation she goes with it, I mean whats the worse that can happen right. Wesley is ready to get married have kids and live an amazing life, just one problem he can't find a women that wants the same. When his boss' granddaughter catches his eye it seems that they both are going different ways in life but he wonders if only. Will they both get what they are looking for or will they both find themselves at an impasse?

I love all things Marrietta Montana, and this book did not disappoint at all. I felt like Elena was willing for bring the pass to the for front to find healing no matter what brick walls she was hitting. I loved her and her take no prisoner attitude she was just cocky enough that you find your self saying "wow this girl has no filter and I love it". I loved how Wes did not take much either. He had this loving, kind spirit in the book and you just found yourself truly connecting with them and they feel like they are friends not characters in books. I so loved this sweet story and I wanted so much more because the story was just that amazing. The author did an amazing job at letting the story flow and getting you sucked in. You can not go wrong with this book super fun and super clean read.

The Lawman's Apache Moon Debra Holt- Texas Lawman Series #2

Description:

"No more detours!" That was the promise Angelina Lord made to herself when she accepted a ride from a wedding in Texas, with the best man to her destination in Santa Fe, New Mexico. What could possibly go wrong?

Angelina is focused on one thing–opening a fashion boutique in Santa Fe. What she really doesn’t need is one full-of-himself lawman with his aggravating air of superiority and soul-searing eyes…not to mention heart-stopping kisses…coming to her rescue. If she lets him get too close to the truth, he could bring down the wall she erected around her well-ordered life and her heart.

United States Marshal Jace Blackhawke holds family and traditions as the center of his life. He isn’t part of Angie’s world and she certainly isn’t part of his. Will their differences prove to be too insurmountable in the face of the truth that will not stay silent?

My thoughts on the book:

After so many delays she is finally on her way to Santa Fe, it may not be with her best friend in tow but she is going to continue to follow her dream to open a store there. Angie has a secret about her past few know about and she would like to keep it that way. The closer Jase gets to her the hard it is to protect her heart. Can she come out of Santa fe unscathed or will her heart be in need of healing again? Jase has not always had it easy and he enjoys the bachelor life. When things take a turn he knows he needs to protect his heart even in the temporary situation he talked Angie in. But can he walk away when its all over or will it all be to much for them both forcing him to come clean?

I really enjoyed this series so far, this book does not need to be read in order but should because both are amazing, and you catch up with Clay and Kaitlyn in this book. I really enjoyed the back in forth with both characters they were fun to read and the crazy comments back and forth was super fun, I loved how they tended to "label" each other. I really enjoyed the passion in this book. I will say that there are some indication of adult scenes in this book so it may not be suitable for all ages. I really enjoyed how the author took the time describe the colors of the south west where you feel like you were right there with the characters. This book really flowed well and the story seemed to draw you in, in any and all aspects, it was super fun read and super enjoyable. I can't wait to read more from both this author and this series.

Beneath Copper Falls Colleen Coble- Rock Harbor #6

Description:

Dana has already learned that love isn’t safe . . . but could it be different in Rock Harbor?

As a 911 dispatcher, Dana Newell takes pride in being calm in tough circumstances. In addition to her emotionally-charged career, she’s faced enough emergencies in her own life. She recently escaped her abusive fiancĂ© to move to tranquil Rock Harbor where she hopes life will be more peaceful.

But the idyllic town hides more danger and secrets than it first appeared. Dana is continually drawn to her new friend Boone, who has scars inside and out. Then she answers a call at her job only to hear a friend’s desperate screams on the other end. Soon the pain in her past collides with the mysteries of her new home—and threatens to keep her from the future she’s always wanted.

My thoughts on the book:

Dana has decided after dating a man who is not safe any longer maybe it would be better if she moved home this way she could be close to her friends and family and maybe they could help her. She never expected there to be more danger and secrets to uncover then when she came home and things start to reveal them self and she started to question what was really going on. Can she stay safe or is there more then meet the eye in this small town she called home once? Boone, is broken and scarred inside and out and he knows if he will ever find happiness again he needs to learn to let it go. But when he looses someone close to him and then his past seems to just come face to face with him he wonders what can happen next. When he seeks to help protect Dana he starts to wonder is there more then meets the eye with the world he had held so much anger towards?

OH MY GOODNESS, I just can't with this book. Literally from page one to the last page you are left guessing what the author is going to throw at you next and it keeps you on the edge of your seat for sure. The author has a way of sucking you in and then all of a sudden the book is over with. Wow just wow. I really enjoyed this book and wanted so much more from this story about these two. I am hoping they will appear in cameos in another book. (Its not a cliff hanger ending but you just get sucked into this book you are left wanting more.) I loved while this is a mystery the author kept the book good, clean and fun. I really enjoyed the biblical aspect of it as well. While Dana was trying to face a dangerous situation she was trying to get here heart right with God and see his handy work in whatever she faced on a day to day bases, and that seems to matter most. I enjoyed how Boone was broken he didn't come off as "whinny" but came off as a broken man looking for healing. If you want a book that will keep you guessing with every page turn seriously grab this book you will not regret it

The Lavender House Hilary Boyd

Description:
Nancy de Freitas is the glue that holds her family together. Caught between her ageing, ailing mother Frances, and her struggling daughter Louise, frequent user of Nancy's babysitting services, it seems Nancy's fate is to quietly go on shouldering the burden of responsibility for all four generations. Her divorce four years ago put paid to any thoughts of a partner to share her later years with. Now it looks like her family is all she has.

Then she meets Jim. Smoker, drinker, unsuccessful country singer and wearer of cowboy boots, he should be completely unsuited to the very together Nancy. And yet, there is a real spark.
But Nancy's family don't trust Jim one bit. They're convinced he'll break her heart, maybe run off with her money - he certainly distracts her from her family responsibilities.

Can she be brave enough to follow her heart? Or will she remain glued to her family's side and walk away from one last chance for love?

My thoughts on the book:
Nancy is finally divorced and it seems that a second chance at love might be around the corner. However it seems her family may not like that idea and has other plans for it. When she is pulled every which way she knows something has to give but she doesn't want to be forced to choose. Will she have to give it all up before it's to late or risk loosing someone close to her? Jim has been putting off his divorce long enough but being content with the way things are he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to change that. But when faced with keeping a secret from someone he loves he knows now may be the time to change his life or risk loosing it all.

I was not a fan of this book. This book was about romance of all ages, the characters seemed to be geared more to ages 60-70s and now after some unforeseen circumstances they were looking for love again while juggling everyday life. I felt like this story was intense and lack humor and some lighthearted moments, even from the kids in the book. I felt like the author portrayed Nancy as someone who was weak, instead of someone who was independent and strong. I wish the book would have been more about Nancy's Daughter and her husband I enjoyed them in the book. I just felt like this book was lacking for me. This book does contain strong language and adult scenes through out. This book may be right for the right person it just wasn't for me.
