Christmas in the Lone Star State A Texas Novel of the West Jason Manning

Description:

Jason Manning’s authentic take on the American West has earned him legions of fans. Now he’s back with a brand-new Western set in the rough-and-tumble Texas frontier. ’Tis the season. . .

A LAWMAN PAST HIS PRIME
Texas Ranger Bill Sayles rode scout for Sam Houston when he was no more than fifteen. These days the lawman’s on the wrong side of three score years, and the glory days of the Rangers are on the wane. But Sayles still hits what he aims at and is not a man to cross. Ten days before Christmas in the harsh winter of 1876, Sayles arrives at the state prison in Huntsville to escort prisoner Jake Eddings on a furlough to his hometown, where his ten-year-old son is being laid to rest.
a PRISONER PAST ALL HOPE
In a desperate scheme to save his farm, Eddings took part in a stagecoach holdup in which the driver was killed. After serving two years of a fifteen-year sentence, he is already a broken man. Despite the agony of regret, he longs to see his wife and bury his beloved boy.But when Sayles gets wind that the murderous Litchfield brothers are headed in the direction of Eddings’ farm, the Ranger and his prisoner join forces to keep Eddings’ wife from harm―and maybe grab a last shot at redemption.

My thoughts on the book:

I have never read anything or even heard of Jason Manning. I usually give a summary of my thoughts on the characters, however there was so many I wouldn't know where to even begin. The book is broken up into days then 3 chapters each day so each day promising something different. I have to say since the book had so many characters added it was hard to keep up with what the storyline was or what the story the author was trying to tell. I seemed that he spent so much time explaining each characters life story to bring them to current to have something happen and then going on to the next one. From what I gather of the story you have a broken Texas ranger who is set to keep the Texas free of all the evil during the late 1800's and he is ask to pick up a prisoner and take him home for the loss of Eddings son. They are met with a ton of challenges along the way and the story goes from there. This book was not for me but may be for the right person I hope my review sums up to give you the best choice to make for you.

Finding Father Christmas & Engaging Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn

Description:

By beloved author Robin Jones Gunn, two timeless, heartwarming Christmas novellas bound together for the first time in an omnibus edition.

In FINDING FATHER CHRISTMAS, Miranda Carson's search for her father leads her unexpectedly to London with only a few feeble clues as to who he might be. Immediately welcomed into a family that doesn't recognize her, and whom she's quickly coming to love, she faces a terrible decision. Should she reveal her true identity and destroy their idyllic image of her father? Or should she carry the truth home with her to San Francisco and remain alone in this world? Whatever choice she makes during this London Christmas will forever change the future for both herself and the family she can't bear to leave.

In ENGAGING FATHER CHRISTMAS Miranda Carson can't wait to return to England for Christmas and to be with her boyfriend, Ian. She has spent a lifetime yearning for a place to call home, and she's sure Carlton Heath will be it, especially when a hinted-at engagement ring slips into the conversation. But Miranda's high hopes for a jolly Christmas with the small circle of people she has come to love are toppled when Ian's father is hospitalized and the matriarch of the Whitcombe family withholds her blessing from Miranda. Questions run rampant in Miranda's mind about whether she really belongs in this cheery corner of the world. Then, when her true identity threatens all her relationships in unanticipated ways, Miranda is certain all is lost. And yet . . . maybe Father Christmas has special gifts in store for her after all.

My thoughts on the book:

With no family to speak of and only on a whim Miranda took off to hopefully find the father he mom always kept a secret. When Miranda hits a dead end and shoes the picture to the shop keeper things seem to take a life of its own. Will Miranda be able to uncover the secret father she has longed for?
I really loved this short story, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect, I have read other books by Robin but this seemed to have a different feel to it. I want to say that it was like a twist on the Christmas classic Charles Dickens' Scrooge, but that doesn't seem right. The storyline is well put together and while I am usually not a fan of the first person story this fits this perfectly and I could not have imagined reading it any other way.

Miranda is back in England for her third visit and she hope this time will go just as good if not better as the last two. There still seems to be a disconnect that she would like to heal with her brother. Secrets have a way of coming out and this one she would like to keep close to her heart so not to hurt and one else. When Ian drops the biggest surprise of all there seems to be another waiting around the corner. Will Miranda go home with out those she holds dear to her or will she be able to find a ally and stay close to those she just found?
I really enjoyed both these books. They seem to sum what Christmas is all about. Family is not always who is blood but those we choose and those we hold dear too. This book seemed to really hit its mark and there is always a certain amount of forgiveness that needs to be given when secrets that have long been buried make its way to the surface. I would highly recommend this set of books, this series would be perfect all year round and be the perfect, fun read.

Marrying the Single Dad (A Harmony Valley Novel) Melinda Curtis

Description:

A man called Joe

His first move is to get his grandfather's defunct garage up and running. Except now he's got the FBI poking around, and there's a beautician with her eye on the abandoned auto parts. But he has unfinished family business that could jeopardize his fresh start. Is Joe ready to believe in himself as fiercely as Brittany's beginning to believe in him?

My thoughts on the book:

After a fall out in California with his uncle Joe comes home to Harmony Valley with a daughter and hope for a better life. He just doesn't get the welcome home he was hoping for but will stop at nothing to make a better life for his daughter. Brit followed her twin home and is disappointed that everyone keeps saying that she just into arts and crafts. She wants to make it big in the art world but it seems like she's working against all odds to make it happen.

I really enjoyed this book and the storyline. I enjoyed that it was truly a clean story and it was completely enjoyable. There was some guessing on what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the fun and crazy characters in the book, they seemed to add another element to the book. I loved Sam and her spunky personality but all her softer and sweet side that she adds to the story as well. I hope there is more story to come from this fun bunch and I hope to hear Reggie's story I feel like there is more to her. Such a fun love story and worth the read.

Mistletoe Cottage Debbie Mason (Harmony Harbor)

Description:

'Tis the season for love . . .
Sophie DiRossi loved growing up in Harmony Harbor. But after fleeing in disgrace many years ago, it is the last place she wants to be. Left homeless by a fire, she's forced to go back to the small coastal town that harbors a million secrets, including her own. Sophie sees this secret reflected every day in her daughter's blue eyes-and she must keep it hidden from the only man she has ever loved.

Sophie's return is a shock for everyone . . . especially Liam Gallagher. The firefighter had some serious feelings for Sophie-and seeing her again sparks a desire so fierce it takes his breath away. Now Liam will do whatever it takes to show Sophie that they deserve a second chance at love, even if everything they've concealed threatens to keep them apart. In this special town at this special time of the year, Sophie and Liam can only hope for a little holiday magic . . .

My thoughts on the book:

Sophie is running from a past she would like to keep there, however it seems that she is going home to where it all started. She discovers things aren't as they seem. When she gets a job things start to go haywire and she needs to change the inn around and keep everyones secrets hidden in the inn even though it seems that someone seems to want it more.
Liam is home to heal and he is shocked that Sophie is home. He's really shocked at the secret she's hiding. Will the secret destroy them both forever or can they leave the past in the past and come together and help save the Family inn?
I have a love hate relationship with this book, I really loved the story, I hate that I have to wait for more from this group of characters. I really enjoyed that "mystery" of the book and how it keeps you guessing and leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed how stubborn Sophie was and it seems that the author wrote some cryptic hints into the storyline and leaves you wondering whats next. I really can't wait for the next story in this series and I know for sure I will be following these fun characters for sure. If you are looking for a fun christmas story with lots are crazy fun characters then grab this book you will not regret it.

Wild Montana Skies, Susan May Warren Book #1

Description:

Search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana, twelve years after she joined the military to escape the mistakes of her past. With a job waiting for her as the new lead pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park, Kacey hopes to reconnect with the now-teenage daughter she sees only between deployments. What she doesn't realize is that someone else is also back in town.

Ben King has been building his country music career since the day Kacey shut him out of her life. Now all of that's on hold when his injured father calls him home to help run Peak Rescue until he's fully recovered. It doesn't take long, though, to discover his father's ulterior motives as Kacey Fairing walks into the house and back into his heart.

With Mercy Falls in a state of emergency due to flash floods, Kacey and Ben are forced to work together to save lives. But when floodwaters turn personal, can they put aside the past to save their future?

My thoughts on the book:

Kacey is sent home after facing something no one should be forced to see. She has in mind to go home reconnect with her daughter and to fly the one thing she felt alive and her self. She never expected that she will be forced to face a past she would rather leave in the past.
Ben is home to help his dad heal after a helicopter crash and hopes to convince him to come back to Nashville with him so he can get back to picking up a career that seems to be done. When he comes face to face with someone from his past he's not sure who to be more mad at Kacey or his dad. He's lived after he finds out Kacey and what seems like the whole town is holding a secret from him.
Will they be able to work together put the past in the past and spend the summer in a SAR team or will they be destroyed forever?

I really enjoyed this book a lot I loved how Kacey comes off as a not going to put up with anyone, but has the venerability of every person out there and she is not untouchable. I really enjoyed the side story of Ian and Sierra I just hope there is more to come from them and that wasn't the end of it. I really liked Ben but then I did he seemed like he expected every one to love him but when brought down a few notches he learns to see whats in front of him. I think the biggest thing that I learned from this book was sometimes facing the past and leaving it there are not always easy and one you have to do to accept the future and what may be right in front of you. I loved the friendships that were formed through out this book even the ones that just didn't seem to fit.
This book is totally going in my personal library I can't wait to read more about this group of people and see what happens next.

Plain Christmas Sarah Price

Description:

It’s been nine years since Cuban singer Alejandro Diaz’s limousine collided with a young Amish woman named Amanda Beiler as she was crossing a New York City street—an accident that ignited the couple’s cross-cultural romance. Amanda loves her husband and their three children, but their fast-paced, lavish Miami lifestyle troubles her. Will her kids grow up never knowing what it’s like to simply be, without chauffeurs, social media, and paparazzi complicating their lives? When she receives a letter from her mother in Pennsylvania inviting the family to visit for Christmas, she seizes the chance to show her children a different way of life.
During their weeklong stay among the Amish community of her youth, Amanda and her family will bake cookies and milk cows, sled and crochet—and reconsider what’s truly important in life. As they prepare for their family Christmas holiday, they’ll have to make momentous decisions about their future and what “happily ever after” truly means.

My thoughts on the book:

Alejandro and Amanda are back. They have been at it for 9 years and are getting ready to close out the year and have so much going on. Amanda wishes she can get her family to disconnect from the world and reconnect as a family. When she gets a letter from her mom to please come home for christmas she wonders if that can happen and if maybe she can get her family to reconnect. But it seems like there are a few hurdles to cross before that all can happen. Can she and Alejandro work together to make it happen or will it be another christmas in Miami?

Sarah did not disappoint with this book at all. I really enjoyed this book and I have to say out of all the Plain series books this one hands down is my favorite. This one focused on family and finding the pieces of yourself that you can only find by going "home". This book is not just about christmas but its about the true mean of it and whats really important in life. In some of the Plain series I was not a fan of Alejandro in fact I felt in some case he was jerk and I wanted to smack him, however in this book that totally change and I fell in love with who he had become and how much growth he made. I absolutely loved the kids in this book, Sarah did an amazing job at making their little personality shine through especially little Nicolas, man him and Sofia are just spit fires.
If you are looking for a good clean read with a fun group of characters then this book is for you and you will not regret grabbing it.

Sleigh Bells Ring Sandra D. Bricker; Barbara J. Scott; Lynette Sowell; Lenora Worth

Description:

Santa Claus is coming to town, and so are the Tucker sisters.

Never mind a pony. The Tucker girls have inherited their father’s horse farm for Christmas. Make that . . . a run-down horse farm. It needs some serious TLC in order to make it sell-ready. Joanna knows that by recruiting her sisters and one handsome ranch hand they can fix up the place and even celebrate one last Christmas while they’re at it. However, to Isabella, returning to their home in Kentucky bluegrass country for Christmas seems like an impossible hurdle. Can her Chicago boyfriend make life merry and bright again?

One thing’s for sure—nothing is peace on earth for Sophia as a new beau brings up old wounds. And when the fate of the horse farm is put in jeopardy because Amy accidentally fraternizes with the enemy, tensions rise. But it’s not like the land developer stole Christmas . . . just her heart.

Can the Tucker sisters have themselves a merry little Christmas?

My thoughts on the book:

Will life ever be the same again, Jo-Jo is left wondering. She gets news of her dads pasting and there is no better time to head home and handle this head on. Her only wish though is for one more family Christmas on the ranch before any decisions are made. Jed knows Jo-Jo would have come home for the funeral if she knew Tuck had past, he knows this in his heart. When she shows up on the farm he wonders if he can convince her to stay or if he is better of moving on all together.

Bella has a bit of her dads Gypsy's spirt in her and she now needs to head home to head home for one last Christmas and figure out whats next. David is so happy with Bella and he knows he has never loved anyone more then he has loved her. When they go home for Christmas can her convince her wondering spirit to stay?

Sophia is going home and she not happy about it, but she knows she needs to do this for her sisters and for her self one more Christmas. Matt can not believe his eyes when Sophia comes literally crashing into his life again. He hopes it's for good but he wonders if its only for a time being. Can he convince her to stay, or will the pain of the past just be to much for both of them?

Amy needs to go home and deal with this whole ranch thing and she is not looking forward to it at all. Dan has one sister he needs to convince that they need to sell, but when he meets her he wonders if maybe the land is not meant to be his but something else.

I loved all four of these short stories. I liked how even though they were from four different authors the stories flowed perfectly together. I really enjoyed how the primary focus was Christmas, coming home and family, but most importantly forgiveness. I would highly recommend this book and I guarantee it will put you in the mood for the holidays.

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming Mary Connealy; Ruth Logan Herne; Julie Lessman; Anna Schmidt

Description:
Glad tidings, hearts binding.

They’ve weathered a lot worse than winter. For widow June Harper, another cold front is about to hit. Most call him Hugh. She’d call him Scrooge, except as the man ensures her needs are met, June can’t help but wonder how to meet the needs of his heart.

Netty Lewis can take care of herself, has for a while now. Some hired help over the holidays doesn’t change that. And even if Roy does take care of her, that doesn’t mean he cares for her or that he’ll stay past Christmas.

Pastor Colton McCabe is having the opposite problem. He’s not sure he’ll make it through the holidays with his new housekeeper. Grace can’t seem to do anything right but love. Perhaps being a homekeeper will earn her a permanent residence in his heart.

And no one longs for a home more than Connie Lancaster. She’s determined to return to St. Louis, and no cowboy can change her mind. But if Isaac can change her heart, maybe Connie will see the homecoming she’s been waiting for isn’t to a place but a person.

My thoughts on the book:

Grace has craved one thing her whole life, she wants family and to belong. When she turns her life around she sets out to make a new life and hopes her best friend's help is still needed even a year later, but when she arrives she finds the last thing she expected. Col has his four girls, his aunt and his church to take care of and he also needs to get his wive's last wish finished in time for christmas. When help seems to arrive at his door step the last thing he thinks that will happen is disaster but it seems thats all that follows in Graces wake. Will they both find the love and forgiveness they both seek?

Hugh is mad at God he feels as if God wronged him, but when one of his day workers the spitfire of a women and his sister show him that even in the worst of time you have to rely on God to get you through. He wonders if the path he is on is the right one. June and her friends have lost everything all they have left is each other an their kids. The three set off to get a job, June and Anna get the job so they are left to care for the eight. When one man sets out to destroy their chance June has no problem going toe to toe with him and in doing so she get the attention of the rancher that she needs to convince there are people in need out the in hope for help for everyone. Love has not boundaries but learning to love with out them and to love others in their darker times seemed to be the moral of this story.

Betty is wondering if its time to walk away and make a better life for her and her son since thats all thats left. When she stuck in a whole a cow has chased her in she has time to think and knows there has to be a better way. When a stranger helps her out she wonders if she can convince him to stay and help her and her son even though she has nothing to give. Roy is fighting his own personal demons and is set to head west but is in no hurry to get there. As he is riding past a farm and sees a horse gone rouge he sets out to find its rider. When she tries and convinces him to stay and help her out he wonders if it will even be worth his time. Will they be able to work together and get the money they both need? I really really enjoyed this story out of all of them. I really enjoyed that the true meaning of Christmas played out and they way it played out.

Connie has had it all and looses it just as quickly. When her dad dies her and her mom set off and settle in Arizona but she has a longing to go home. Isaac sets out to change there mind he knows in his heart that she is the one for him. Will that be able to see eye to eye before its to late? This story was so fun it was quick and had a lot pact into it. A story of finding out that things aren't always as they seem.

Each of these stories seem to have an underlay of a moral to the story each one was completely enjoyable and makes you want more. Each story happened around Christmas time giving the christmas feel however Longhorn Christmas was my favorite it truly showed the real reason for Christmas. Each story is set in the 1800s but over all the books where well worth the read and completely enjoyable, so worth the purchase. It leaves you wanting just a little more. Each story shows that with out love and stubbornness life is just that and you can't embarrass those around you.

Unlucky in Love Maggie McGinnis Whiskey Creek Series #4

Description:

From the author of Once Upon a Cowboy (“Sexy, charming, and perfectly heartwarming.”—Lauren Layne) comes another sweet novel of the Whisper Creek Ranch, where sizzling Montana men melt the most stubborn hearts.

After Alexis Maguire’s wedding day comes and goes without a groom, she decides that it’s time for a change. Tired of being the dependable, steady—and apparently boring—one, Alexis hopes that a cross-country road trip will help her loosen up and find her inner sparkle. Her first stop is the Whisper Creek Ranch, where the hot wranglers are sure to bring out her inner party girl. The trouble is, she can’t stand pretending to be someone she’s not—especially around the cowboy who tempts her to stay put.

Gunnar Peterson has spent six months working at Whisper Creek, and he’s never been happier. Having grown up an army brat, he’s ready to put down roots, and the only thing missing is a woman to share his life with. When Alexis blows into town, Gunnar thinks he may have met his match, despite the wild-child facade he sees right through. But Alexis swears she won’t settle down anytime soon—so it’s up to Gunnar to convince her that what she’s looking for . . . is right here.

My thoughts on the book:

Alexis is working on Lexi 2.0, if she can change then she can maybe win back her ex. Her sister has other plans and her sister sets her up to go on an adventure with a list that she needs to complete and wants whats best for her sister after everything she's been through. Gunnar is finally where he wants to be and setting roots down. It seems that the girls not he ranch have other plans. When Alexis shows up on the ranch to work, she enlist him to help her out but he has other plans. Will they be able to come together and forget everything or will they be able to come together and build a future before  something or someone pulls them apart?
I really enjoyed reading this book and catching up with the fun group at Whiskey Creek. I loved how Maggie rights these characters as if you are catching up with friends and not just fictional characters. I love when an author can take a sassy horse or a mischief child and write it into the story and they just add that much more to the story. Maggie did not disappoint with the story. I liked how the author had kept this story on the clean side. There was a few strong words but over all everything was appropriate. I also enjoyed that the relationships in the booked didn't seem forced but very natural and super fun. I can't wait to read more from Maggie I just love this series.

Without Warning Lynette Eason Elite Guardians Series Book 2

Description:

Intensity. Skill. Tenacity.
The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all.

Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business.

Daniel might be concerned, but he's not convinced that a bodyguard--and a female one at that--is necessary. A new attack and his niece's urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who's behind the intimidation and threats--before a would-be killer strikes again.

My thoughts on the book:

Katie is so ready for a break and for vacation, she's glad there is finally that break. Well until on her way home she see one of her students restaurant on fire and is hired by her to protect her uncle. What Katie can't put her finger on is they are missing something or someone and that person or persons want them dead. Daniel is tired and ready to go home when he hears a strange noise and find the last thing he expects. When he sets out to investigate he finds his niece has hired a team to protect them and not matter what he's stuck. But it seems that no matter who gets in the way of the person who wants him they will stop at nothing. Will Katie and Daniel be able to come together to stop them before its to late or will he loose someone else who's close to him?
This is my second book by Lynette in a matter of weeks and I just can not get enough of her books. If you have ever read anything by Dee Henderson then her books are for you and if you haven't then seriously grab this series you will not regret it. Lynette has a way of taking a intense book and writing someone with a sassy personality into the storyline that just at the right moment has you laughing and then in the next has you on the edge of your seat leaving you wanting more. I seriously loved this book. I got to the end at right when I thought it was over it gave me just a little more to leave me wanting more. It does not leaving you in a cliffhanger which I appreciated as a reader. I can honestly say there really wasn't anything about this book I did not enjoy. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, these lady's know how to kick some butt and enjoy doing it.

By Firelight Janice Maynard

Description:

Hot Arctic Nights
In North Pole, Alaska, Christmas spirit is everywhere—except in Hallie Prentiss’s heart. At least her
two-week stint managing the Dancing Elves B&B will pay the bills. Then she gets a look at long-term guest Daniel Reynolds. Whether dressed as Santa or (even better) wearing next to nothing, the man is gorgeous, charming, and sexy as hell. Workaholic Hallie is tempted to take a walk on the naughty side for once. But when she does, will she ever want to leave?

By Firelight
There’s nothing like nearly freezing to death on the Appalachian Trail to make a woman want to live a little. And when Madison Tierney stumbles upon Grant Monroe’s mountain cabin during a blizzard, she’s gripped by something more than gratitude. Soon, the glow of firelight sparks hot, sweet kisses…and the start of a Christmas adventure she’ll never forget.

My thoughts on the book:

Grant went to his cabin to get away and think. When Madison falls literally on his door steps. They set to make the most of the situation since they are snowed in and no where to go.
Hallie has had a rough year and just lost her job she's off to North Pole Alaska the last place wants to be but its for two weeks and its not like she's staying. Daniel is working in North Pole and loves what he does when Hallie takes one the B and B he sets out to get her to stay.
Being the fact this book contained 2 stories in one I felt like each story lacked something. I would say that it would have been better if the author would have taken one story and went with it and add more to the heart of the story. Neither story lacks sexual tension or sexual attraction. The story just really seem to lack something. I felt like HOT ARCTIC NIGHTS had a little more heart to it and I would loved to have seen more of the story continue. I would say that the fact this has adult scenes this may not be the book for everyone.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks returns with his signature combination of gripping, emotionally resonant storytelling and love overcoming all odds.

At 32, Russell Green has it all: a stunning wife, a lovable 6 year-old daughter, a successful career as an advertising executive and an expansive home in Raleigh. He is living the Dream, and his marriage to the bewitching Vivian is the center of that dream. But underneath the shiny surface of this perfect existence, fault lines are beginning to appear . . . and no one is more surprised than Russ when he finds every aspect of the life he took for granted turned upside down.

In a matter of months, Russ finds himself without a job or wife, caring for his young daughter London while struggling to adapt to a new and baffling reality. Trying to launch his own business while grappling with the demise of his marriage, the only thing he knows for certain is that London must be sheltered from the consequences of these radical changes. Throwing himself into the wilderness of single parenting, Russ embarks on a journey at once terrifying and rewarding - one that will test his abilities and his emotional resources beyond anything he ever imagined.

When a chance encounter with an old flame tempts him to take a chance on love again, he will navigate this new opportunity with trepidation and wonder.  But with the loyal support of his parents and his wise older sister Marge, and in the hard-won lessons of fatherhood, Russ will finally come to understand the true nature of unconditional love -  that it is a treasure to be bestowed, never earned.

Description:

Jayne Murphy has always put family first. That’s why she abandoned her dream of joining the police force to run her ailing mother’s dance studio.
When one of the studio’s most talented instructors dies in a car crash, Jayne isn’t convinced it was just an accident. Relentlessly pursuing her hunch, she teams up with Officer Danny Nolan, the best friend and partner of her brother Patrick, who died in the line of duty. Haunted by Patrick’s death, Danny has begun to question whether he should still be a cop at all.
As Jayne digs deeper, suspects emerge, including the victim’s clingy ex-boyfriend and a jealous foe from the cutthroat dance world. Her evolving insights into the case rekindle Jayne’s passion for police work. Danny, too, feels a renewed sense of purpose…and a definite attraction to his unofficial partner, which seems to be mutual. Now, if Jayne can only keep herself out of harm’s way, she and Danny both might get a second chance—with their careers and each other.

My thoughts on the book:

Jayne's dreams are put on hold so that she can take care of her mom as she has become ill. But she still dreams of one day becoming the best cop she can ever be. When her best friend and neighbor dies she sets off to prove it was not an accident, but will she be able to prove it before before its to late or will someone else get hurt in the mix? Danny has faced the loss of his best friend and wants nothing more to just be accepted as the amazing cop he has set out to be and not someone who caused his best friends death. When he comes face to face with the family that he considered his second family he wonders if forgiveness is ok. Now he has bigger things looking into the death of someone even though every one swears its just an accident. Will he be able to get to the bottom of this or will he put his job on the line?
I really enjoyed this book, I wasn't sure what to expect as I totally went off the cover only. Alison is a new author find for me, and I was not disappointed at some points I thought the book was predictable and then something would happen and then everything would change my way of thinking. Literally this book had me guessing all the way to the end. I did however not like Jayne's brothers they totally seems ugh(can't say much more without disclosing more then you might want to know). I loved that this is a clean read and that there is no strong language in the book. This book reminds me everything is not as they seem. if your looking for a book you can't put down that draws you in grab this one and have fun, you won't be disappointed.

Into the Light Kathryn Ascher book #3

Description:

Jackson Harris fell in love with his best friend’s sister, but at her brother’s request, he stepped out of her life to clean up his act. When he was ready to declare his love to her, she rejected him, sending him back into a tailspin of bad behavior. Four years later, he’s focused on his struggling band , the women who want him, and still trying to forget the one who didn’t. When she suddenly shows up as his band’s new manager, he realizes that, despite his best efforts, his feelings for her haven’t changed a bit. Kerrigan Dodd has spent the past four years living in Europe, trying to forget that Jackson, the only man she’s ever loved, walked out of her life six years earlier. After returning home, the last thing she expected was that her new job was to manage his failing band. To make matters worse, she barely recognizes the boy she fell in love with in his band persona, and the prospect of spending so much time with him has her questioning her ability to do her job. As Jack and Kerrigan work to turn the band around, they struggle to overcome the secrets that have kept them apart. Just when they’re coming together, on both fronts, other forces conspire to keep them from reaching their goals. Will they be able to put the past behind them and clear the way for their future? Or are their current differences too much to move beyond?

My thoughts on the book:

Jackson is the bad boy who has no problem having girls on his arm and enjoying the lifestyle the band affords him. However he has some secrets of his own he would like to keep, when one walks in the door and turns his world on its edge he starts to question the past and what could have been. Kerrigan is broken and home and has a secret that could break most people, but she has decided to put that to the side and take on this job as a band manager, she just never thought she would be babysitting and that was going to end real quick. When she discovers who is in the band she sets in her heart and mind that she will keep everything professional and not let Jack affect her or her job in any way. When things go array will she and Jack be able to put everything aside and fight for whats right or will it be best she just walk away?
This book is utterly amazing. I seriously could not put this book down I stayed up late one night just to finish reading it. So amazing. I really enjoyed each of the characters, even the ones who were not meant to be so great. Each person played such and important roll in the book I could not imagine the book going any other way. I found the book to be on the edge of your seat on some points and others just completely enjoyable and going with the flow. The storyline flowed amazingly and kept you guessing. The language was strong in the book, there were some adult scenes and some tough topics in the book, so the book will not be right for all ages but its so worth the read.
IF you are looking for a love story were not everything just falls into place this is the story for you.
