Standoff At Midnight Mountain Mary Alford

Description:
Her brother is missing
And she’s the next target
After her CIA operative brother disappears, leaving behind only a cryptic message, armed men target former agent Rachel Simmons for information. But with help from her ex, Agent Alex Booth, Rachel eludes them, trekking into the mountains in search of her brother. Pursued through the wilderness by highly trained—and very familiar—men, can Alex and Rachel expose a conspiracy that goes deeper than they ever imagined?

My thoughts on the book:

Her brother has gone missing and she knows in her heart something is not right. When she reaches out to her former partner she wonders what could be next for all of them since now it seems they are after her and she doesn't know why. He sets off to his hometown to help find his best friend but when he shows up knows it's not what it seems. Can they find Liam before it is too late?
This book was amazing. I really did enjoy it, oh so much it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was like a game of cat and mouse throughout the whole book and who don't know who the good guys are or the bad guys, because of this the author did an amazing job and keeping you guessing all the way to the end. This book is a good clean read and it will keep you on the edge from beginning to end. You won't regret grabbing this book its a quick read but well worth it.

A Christmas Carousel Proposal Melinda Curtis & Carrie Lynn Webb

Description:

This clean romance kicks off the 2018 anthology written by Harlequin Heartwarming romance authors.

Lisa Garland has big plans for her grandparents' wedding anniversary on December 24th - the grand opening of Carousel House, featuring a fully-restored carousel in downtown Christmas Town. She doesn't expect the company restoring the carousel to go bankrupt or the only man available to help her make the deadline for her grandparents' anniversary to be her ex-fiance.

A decade ago, John Richardson walked away from Lisa for her own good. He's tried hard not to look back. But now Lisa needs a miracle and John might just be the only man who can deliver it. If only he can keep his undying love for her a secret. He's scheduled to return to duty on December 25, so all he needs to do is organize volunteers to finish the carousel and keep his heart under lock and key. But love has a way of opening doors and hearts, and John's holiday season may not go as planned.

A Christmas Carousel Proposal introduces many of the characters in the 12 Days of Heartwarming Christmas series, which begin the week after John proposes to Lisa. Six romances feature Lisa’s bridesmaids and six feature heroes working on the carousel. All full-length novels end on Christmas Eve.

My thoughts on the book:

Lisa is doing everything she can to get the carousel up and running in time for her grandparents 60th anniversary. John is back in Christmas Town to help with the carousel when he also comes face to face with the only girl he has ever loved and walked away from. Can they get the Carousel going in time or will the past be just too much to move on from?

I loved this book it was a fun read. It was a quick read for sure but it was to the point and leaves you wanting more, not wanting it to end. I loved the fun characters in this book and the sweet love story not only between the main characters but between Lisa's grandparents. This book is a good clean read and you really can't go wrong with such a simple and quick read.

I was given a copy of this book and was under no obligation to do a review the opinions are my own.

. . .you struggled with infertility but unknowingly befriended your husband’s pregnant mistress?

What if. . .
. . .the woman you were seeing behind your wife’s back gets pregnant, threatening your job and marriage?

What if. . .
. . .your boyfriend never told you he was married and you discover you’re pregnant?

Crisis pregnancy worker Marissa Moreau suspects her husband is cheating, but little does she know how close to home her husband’s infidelity hits. College student Kaitlyn Farrows is floundering after a relationship with her professor leaves her pregnant. Soon she lands a job and a support system at the local pregnancy resource center and things seem to be turning around. But when Marissa and Kaitlyn become friends, neither one knows they share a connection—Colin, Marissa’s husband, and Kaitlyn’s former professor. When their private lives collide, the two women must face the ultimate test of their faith and choose how to move forward as they live in the shadows of hope.

My thoughts on the book:

This book is done from the first person point of view. The author did write it from all sides, from Marissa, Kaitlyn and Colin's view so you really aren't left wondering what is going on from the other person aspect. This book is very powerful and emotional.  I was not a fan of Marissa's mother, I didn't like Colin either I felt like they both blamed her for everything and used her as an emotional punching bag. I did really like Adam and Tristan I felt like they were amazing. I wish the book would have played out different it didn't go the way I was thinking at all. Colin came off as a narcissist and a "victim" to everything it became so annoying. Overall this is one of those books to me is "to each his own". This book is a clean read but does deal with some very tough subjects this may not be suitable for all ages.

Small Town Love Susan Meier

Description:
After her estranged father is indicted for insider trading, wealthy heiress and morning talk show personality, Evelyn Barclay, returns to Paradise Key. She takes a job with a friend, only to discover she's now in charge of Paradise Key's sexy mayor, Paxton James.

Pax wants nothing to do with the video Evie needs to produce for the town's new website. But he can't deny that every time he's around her, sparks fly. Not only is she beautiful, but when Evie steps up to help his daughter, he sees another side of her.

Just as Pax and Evie grow closer, her dad's appearance in Paradise Key threatens to send her into hiding again and ruin their budding relationship.

My thoughts on the book:

Evelyn just can not get away from her dad and his mistakes. After finding out he's is being indicted she heads back to Paradise Key where she can hide from the press and spend time with her friends she has always felt like family.  Pax has always loved Paradise key but now he is being pulled in every direction when the Pistol Evie decides he needs to be the face of Paradise Key whether he likes it or not. They have this attraction and both are healing can they come together or will it be too much for both of them and they are better off as friends?
I have read this series from the beginning and I just love these four girls they are fun and unique in there own ways and that goes with Evie as well. I loved Sam she is a pistol even though she is 12 she was just so easy to love reading about. I feel like while reading I was catching up with friends. Pain and forgiveness is a funny thing sometimes you have to get through the pain to get to the forgiveness and that was very much the case in this book. Both Evie and her Dad needed to stop dancing around each other and face the pain head on so they can get to the forgiveness to get to the living. This book was so worth the read and super fun. Some adult language but very mild. Grab this book you won't regret it.

Resort to Love Priscilla Oliveras- Paradise Key #3

Description:

Sometimes, going back to the beginning is the only answer.

Paradise Key Resort holds the best and the worst of Sofía Vargas’s adolescent memories of love and heartbreak. Now, she hopes to wipe the slate clean and boost her career from resort manager to owner by winning a quirky town contest. But when an old flame throws his hat into the ring, Sofía realizes that protecting her heart will be the biggest challenge.

Nathan Patrick Hamilton III has played the part of the good son all his life with one exception—indulging in a secret on again-off again relationship with Sofia in high school and college, knowing that family duty would eventually tear them apart.

Years later, Nathan feels like he finally has a chance to win back the girl of his dreams and right the way he wronged her. But Sofía doesn’t trust or forgive easily and it’s going to take more than kooky town hall meetings, an emergency trip back to Key West, stolen kisses and a re-creation of their first date, for him to even be in the running. Is the ultimate prize the resort or winning back Sofía's heart?

My thoughts on the book:

Sofia has her heart set on reopening the hotel that has always played a huge role in her and her familia's life, it seems just one person stands in the way. Nathan is back in Paradise Key's to place a bid on his families old hotel when he finds out there is one other bid. Can Nathen and Sofia come to terms in this crazy bid process or will Nathen's Dad be the catalyst to the end?

What a sweet story. So far this series has been really fun and this book did not disappoint either. The love that these two had when they were teenagers follows through this whole story. It makes you think of your own high school sweetheart. The book was a super quick read and really makes you feel like you are catching up with friends not reading a fiction book, it just has a way of drawing you in. I loved how the family is so important to Sofia and how she loves so wholeheartedly. This book does have some adult situations but overall this book was a super fun read. This series is the perfect series to grab this summer for sure.

The Fishing Lessons Sherri Murray

Description:

A clean, sweet camping-fishing romance
When Natalie's put in charge of shuttling her boyfriend's truck and boat trailer twelve miles downriver to the take-out, she ends up lost in Fossil. And, for some reason, she doesn't have cell service in the John Day River Canyon. When she goes knocking on doors, the only person home is Cody Felton, a young, cute, local fishing guide. He helps her find the take-out, and over the next five hours, while they wait for her boyfriend to float downriver, Cody reminds her of what she used to want for her life. Set in the juniper-dotted hills of Fossil, Oregon, this lighthearted, Christian romance is sure to snag your heart.

My thoughts on the book:

When Natalie sets out to get to the launch point she followed the directions that her careless boyfriend gave her she ends up lost. When Cody gets a knock on his door he never expected what God really had in store for him that day. Can Cody help get Natalie where she needs to be and keep his heart in tacked?

I have never read anything by this author so I didn't really know what to expect. I have to say this book was the perfect sweet love story. It doesn't need a hero or necessarily has one it just worked. I loved how it was a short read but perfect the author seemed to just have fun and when you are reading it you have fun. This book is set in a small town in Oregon and Natalie seems to come alive while there its almost while she was on this camping trip for work she was finding out who she was. This is a good clean read and I would say suitable for all ages. So fun you won't regret grabbing it.

Healing Touch Brenda Rothert

Description:

She spends her nights treating patients, but Dr. Jocelyn Drake's own wounds are unfixable. Her ex-husband and his younger, bouncier girlfriend work just a few floors away at Tulane Medical Center, and they serve as a constant reminder of what Joss lost. But a fierce determination to continue her research project and a shred of remaining pride keep Joss from transferring out of the Big Easy.
Carson Stephens recently returned from a tour of duty in the Middle East, and though willing women present themselves at every turn, his closest companion is loneliness. His night-shift work supervising the electrical and mechanical systems at the hospital is a perfect fit - it's solitary work putting broken things back together.
When the electrical system on Joss' floor goes haywire, she's frazzled by the sexy electrician who sparks her dormant sex drive. He's brooding and cocky - so not her type. But if Carson has his way, his hands will work their magic on more than just the wiring, and he'll show Joss a night of passion that restores her shattered confidence.
But what happens after that night? As their relationship grows into something more, Joss and Carson face ups and downs, and they both realize that the healing has only just begun.

My thoughts on the book:
Newly divorced Joss is ready to move on but since her and her ex, work in the same place it seems everyone is stuck on the gossip. Can they just let it go so she can continue to better the hospital and the women who need her? Carson is back in the states after his time overseas and it seems going homes not an option but when the opportunity comes to work in a hospital he jumps at it, he knows he won't have to talk to people so I mean how bad can it be.  However, when Joss comes into the room she lights it up and he's drawn to her and he knows he needs to run the other way. Can they work together or will their personalities be too much for each other?

I guess this book was released before and this is a new rewrite. That being said I never read the first one so my opinions are only on this one. I found the characters fun, both are stubborn, strong-willed and a little broken. I liked how fierce, tenderhearted and big-hearted Joss is she was easy to enjoy in this book. Carson was broken and tried to be macho. I felt like there was no real hero in this book but I felt like they were both trying to be heroes for each other. This book does have strong language and adult scenes. Overall, in the end, I was not a fan of this book. I felt like the story was good just some things could have been without.

Love at the Beach Shop Kyra Jacobs- Paradise Key Book #2

Description:
The last thing Jenna Davis wants right now is more drama. Still reeling from the untimely loss of one of her four closest friends, she intends to bury herself in work and forget the hurt. But when her other friends announce they're planning an extended stay on the island, Jenna needs to come up with a plan–and fast–to cover up the little white lie she's been telling them.

Zach Taylor is dealing with a mess of his own. A sinkhole in front of his shop is keeping customers away and putting his livelihood in jeopardy. So when his best friend’s older sister—the one he’s been secretly crushing on since the day they met—offers to loan Zach some shop space if he’ll do her favor, he’s all ears. The request? Pretend to be her boyfriend until her friends head back home.

The stage is set, the charade about to begin. Can these two long time friends keep things purely platonic while they fool the others? Or will Zach and Jenna stop fooling themselves and finally let love in?

My thoughts on the book:
Jenna has found herself in a situation where she either comes clean and come close to losing something that she cherishes or come up with a solution that could help her and her best friend, I mean come on what could go wrong. Zach needs the city to fix his road so that he can keep his business opened, but it seems one councilman might have other plans. Can they work together to keep their business' open or will the fibs be just too much for the trust of the town?

I thought this book was a fun read. However after reading book one and now this book I am wondering if this should be book one. There was some information in this book that seems to make more sense if that was the case. This book was a fun clean read the characters are friends forever and while Jenna likes things in order Zach seems to like to take a risk and push people just a little outside of there comfort zone, which makes for a fun read where you don't know what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed the solid friendships in this book and that no matter what someone is going through the friends are there and they have each other's backs. If you are looking for a fun summer read this series seems like the perfect read.

Summer Love: Take Two Shirley Jump -Paradise Key #1

Description:

Lauren Webster has always thought the town of Paradise Key could use a little shaking up. A partner in a marketing firm, Lauren decides to turn her trip to Paradise Key into an opportunity to work with the Tourism Bureau and create a splashy media campaign. Lauren isn’t interested in love—she’s all business from the second she arrives... until the summer love she never forgot leads the fight against her cosmopolitan changes, and Lauren begins to question the life she thought she wanted and the life she left behind.

When Carter Malone's father has a heart attack, he runs back home to take care of his family. He revels in the small town life, so when he hears Lauren's plans for commercializing Paradise Key, he steps up as her most vocal opponent. However, he can't forget the summer they shared and everything unspoken between them.

If Lauren falls for Carter, she risks losing everything she's worked for. Will this second chance at love be doomed before it has a chance to rekindle?

My thoughts on the book:

Lauren is back in Paradise Key for a funeral and is in hopes of revamping the town.
How hard can it be really all she has to do is convince a few people that marketing their town for tourism is the way to go and close the deal. Carter will stop at nothing to protect Paradise Key. He doesn't care if he has known Lauren for ten years but this is his town. Can they work together or will the past between too much?

This book was such a sweet story. Lauren is looking for herself while finding a way of helping those she loves. She works hard to keep her heart protected almost through the whole story. She has a way of independence about her but still feels vulnerable. I just loved her fighting spirit.  Carter seemed to be searching for who he is. I feel like in this book it wasn't so much as falling in love but discovering who each character was while dealing with a strong attraction too each other.  I loved how each wanted to make each other better while working hard to make the town they both loved better. This book has some strong language but overall this book was a quick read and super fun love story.

Only With You Nicole McLaughlin- Man Enough #4

Description:
The men in Nicole McLaughlin’s Man Enough series are tough Alphas devoted to serving their country and the women who love them.

National Guardsman Aiden King has been attracted to Hannah Walters for a while, but he never made a move because of her close relationship with his best friend. But when circumstances change, Aiden is surprised when his friend gives his blessing. Problem is, there’s a reason he’s still alone after all these years, and as much as he wants her, that secret keeps him from acting on his desires.

Hannah has finally decided to wait for the kind of love you read about in books and see in movies. After her failed engagement, Aiden’s unassuming support has become a touchstone for Hannah. It soon becomes apparent that he may be exactly the kind of man she’s been looking for. But the closer they become, the more he keeps her at arm’s length.

When Aiden suggests a road trip to take Hannah’s mind off her troubles, the two of them go on a journey neither one expected. She just hopes that the final destination is them together for good.

My thoughts on the book:
Aiden has a secret and he's a man so they aren't supposed to share the horrible past, they are told to suck it up and just move past. It's the moving past that Aiden is having a hard time doing and it seems he has met his match when it comes to Hannah. Hannah knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it. This year she wants to focus on being a better her. But when Aiden crashes into her life it seems things are about to change. Can they fight together for the greater purpose or will it all be just too for them?

The author held nothing back in this book everything seemed fair game. The characters were faced with some tough subjects. I loved how the author didn't necessarily make this book super deep she added a soft element to it where you found your self either laughing or crying. I enjoyed Hannah and how she continues to work on her relationship with Becca. This book does have some strong and adult language in it, but it did not consume the book.  I also enjoyed how Hannah had this struggle and this way of finding herself and being ok with or without a man but always relying on Love in the end. I have read a few books from this series and I am ready for more its such a fun group of characters to follow. I can't wait to see where the author takes them next.
