Cowboy Come Home Carly Bloom - Once upon a Time in Texas #2

Description:

Welcome to Big Verde, Texas, where a love-'em-and-leave-'em cowboy faces his greatest challenge yet---the woman he left behind. Perfect for fans of New York Times bestselling authors Lori Wilde and Carolyn Brown.
Some cowboys aren't cut out to be Prince Charming---and Claire Kowalski knows that better than anyone. She gave her heart to Ford Jarvis two years ago, yet that didn't keep him from disappearing into the sunset. Now that he's back in Big Verde, Texas, she's determined not to make the same mistake twice. But the ruggedly sexy cowboy still knows how to push all her buttons, and avoiding him is nearly impossible when she needs his help.

Ford didn't plan on returning home---ever---but when he hears that the Kowalski ranch is in trouble, he hightails it back to town. He's not eager to be reminded of the life he can never have, but his time in Big Verde is only temporary. He'll stay long enough to get the ranch up and running, then hit the road again. But when Ford finds out the new foreman he's training is Claire, still as stubborn and beautiful as ever, this cowboy is going to have to decide what matters most---repeating the mistakes of the past or fighting for a future with the only woman he's ever loved..

My thoughts on the book:

I wanted to like this book the story doesn't seem original it feel like I have read this story before. Also I felt the author wanted you to see Claire as this strong independent person who was a fighter, but I saw her as a whiney rich girl who wanted what she wanted and tended to whine about it through out the story. I found Ford a broken soul with no where to land. I liked Worth he was fun to read about and I wanted to know more about his story. I liked Henry, Maggie and Travis they had me laughing along with Bubba, Tessa and Jd. This book is for sure an adult read it has cursing and sex through out the book. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Cowboy for Hire Victoria James - Wishing River #2

Description:

When a shy woman inherits a ranch, she’ll have to find an inner strength to succeed—and open herself up to love—in this heartwarming novel from New York Times bestselling author Victoria James.

Sarah Turner has led a very sheltered life. So when her parents pass away tragically, suddenly she’s left in charge of the family ranch with little know-how but plenty of will to keep it afloat. Determined not to lose her parents’ legacy or her newfound independence, she needs a hero fast—not to save her, but to show her how to save herself. But she’s unprepared for the ruggedly handsome cowboy who answers her ad.

“Cowboy for Hire,” the ad said, and Cade Walker is quick to respond. Betrayed as ranch manager by his former boss, he’s looking for a new place to put down roots—without the pressure to prove himself again. Except when he meets his new boss, it’s clear he’s not only there to run a ranch but to also teach Miss Independent how to run it. But as they struggle to make the ranch flourish, they’ll both need courage if they hope to find a family...together.

Each book in the Wishing River series is STANDALONE:
* The Trouble with Cowboys
* Cowboy for Hire

My thoughts on the book:

I liked this story it was super cute, emotional and a fun read. I liked Sarah my heart broke for her and everything she faced, but she was a fighter and nothing was going to hold her back from getting what she wants. Oh my goodness Cade I think I have a dislike/love relationship with him in this story. Sometimes I wanted to smack him and then sometimes my heart broke for him, I think in this story you will find two heroes not just one. I also really enjoyed the other characters in the book they are all a fun group of friends and the author made you feel like you were right there hanging out. I can't wait to see what adventure the author takes Dean and Hope one, or at least that's what I hope the author is going for next. :-). Overall this was a fun read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Can't Hurry Love Melinda Curtis- Sunshine Valley #1

Description:

From a USA Today bestselling author comes a heartwarming romance about a city girl who finds herself widowed in a quirky small town and the new target of the town's relentless matchmaking Widows Club.

Head-over-heels in love, Lola Williams gave up everything to marry Randy, including a promising career in New York City. Now, after one year of marriage and one year of widowhood, Lola finds herself stranded in Sunshine, Colorado, reeling from the revelation that Randy had secrets she never could have imagined. She swears she's done with love forever but the matchmaking ladies of the Sunshine Valley Widows Club have different plans...

Sheriff Drew Taylor also knows what it feels like to be unlucky in love. So when Lola comes to him for help uncovering Randy's hidden life, Drew finds himself saying yes against his better judgment - especially with the Widows Club eyeing them both. Soon enough, Lola is upending Drew's peaceful, predictable world...and he kind of likes it! But will this big-city girl ever give her heart to a small-town guy again?

My thoughts on the book:

I am excited this is a series, I say that because the town of Sunshine it full of some really fun characters and I can't wait to see where the author goes next.  My two favorite characters would have to be Lola and Becky, Becky was a pistol she was so cute, sometimes you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. I like Lola because no matter what she was a fighter and super independent she also had a vulnerability to her that made her feel like she could be your best friend, which made it feel like you were catching up instead of reading about fictional characters. I liked the judge too and his punishments oh my if we all had a judge like this in our towns. I wish that one thing that happened towards the end would have happened a little sooner, but I understand the book had to play out the way it did for a reason. Overall this book was fun read and it was a good clean read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Perfect Distraction Allison Ashley

Description:

Lauren Taylor isn't thinking about love, especially not with the impossibly attractive man she accidentally spilled coffee all over. He's out of her league and she's focused on finishing her oncology pharmacy residency. She's sworn off men who are too handsome for their own good, anyway.

Andrew Bishop can't stop thinking about the gorgeous redhead who crashed into him and then disappeared, even though he should have way more on his mind - like dealing with his Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis and finishing out his last year in law school. When Andrew and Lauren run into each other at the cancer center where she's working and he's being treated, they try to keep it professional. They can be friends, and nothing more.

But sometimes life has other plans…

My thoughts on the book:

This book was so good and super cute. It was also hard a little too, the reason I say that is because the main character has cancer and it deals with the journey through that the author held nothing back while telling this story. But one thing was clear through out life is precious and you don't want to take it for granted. Why this story is fiction it felt like it was very much real. I love Jeni and I hope she gets her own story she was one sister I think we all wish we had. I loved Lauren and her big heart. This book was full of puns so you are guaranteed to laugh regardless. There are a few curse words but overall this is a clean read. So worth the read.

But once there, she’s not sure Logan is up to caring for the girls or his elderly aunt. What’s a nanny with a school deadline looming to do?

A traditional, clean romance with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

My thoughts on the book:

I am truly loving this series so far. I just can with this book though. The author takes two broken people who both feel very unlovable for very different reasons and sends you on a journey to find there happy ever after. This book had my emotions all over the place the author has you laughing and crying and literally you don't want to put the book down because you want to know what's going to happen next. I loved the twin they were feisty and they were your typical sisters they fought with each other but at the end of the day they had each others back. I really loved this book, I loved that the author kept it clean and its suitable for all. This book was quick read and you won't regret grabbing it so worth the read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Matzah Ball Surprise Laura Brown

Description:

This Passover is starting to feel like the ten plagues might be coming back to haunt them before the weekend is over...one hilarious misstep after the next.

Gaby Fineberg just wants to get through Passover Seder without her “well meaning” family playing matchmaker. She needs a date, just for one simple meal—that includes singing, the history of her forefathers, and not one bit of yeast. The hot guy at her gym would be perfect. He probably hates bread, anyway, with a body like that. But when she finally works up the nerve to ask him...he doesn’t hear a word she said.

Levi Miller is deaf and happily single. Initially, he doesn’t know why this beautiful woman is talking to him, but it’s clear she needs help—and suddenly so does he. In a very complicated situation, Levi finds a simple solution. Gaby will pretend to be his new girlfriend to bail him out, and he’ll return the favor. But he didn’t bargain for a family dinner quite like this one...

My thoughts on the book:
I have never read anything from this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. The story was completely predictable and I felt that the author tended to repeat herself on certain topics a lot. I did like Izzy and Gaby and their relationship they seemed to have this unbreakable bond between them. Also really enjoyed the relationship between Faith and Anne. I did enjoy reading about Levi and Gaby and the way the stubbled through their situations. This book does contain sex and cussing. Over all there were some laughable moments, the book is a quick read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.

The Anti-Honeymoon Bethany Michaels

Description:

No groom? No Problem.

When her fiancé tries to turn their wedding into a publicity stunt, Jenna ditches the nuptials—and the groom she shouldn’t have been with in the first place—and skips straight to the honeymoon. The getaway driver, her ex-fiancé’s former business partner, Zach, is the perfect guy to help reshape her romantic newlywed itinerary into an anti-couple, anti-romance, anti-honeymoon adventure for two.

They trade couples yoga for kickboxing lessons. Five-star dining on the beach for pizza and beer at a dive bar. Forget couples massage—Jenna’s getting that tattoo she’s always wanted, and dares Zach to get one, too. And those naughty boudoir pics she took in place of romantic sunset snaps? Those aren’t going in anyone’s wedding album. Not that Zach will forget them anytime soon.

As each item on Jenna’s anti-couples list is checked off, the anti-honeymoon with Zach feels more and more like the real thing, and she wishes the list was just a little bit longer...and even steamier.

My thoughts on the book:

This book was very predictable but so worth the read. The book was a fun and quick read. Jenna is more of a laid back take life as it comes and Zach is a type A personality everything has to be planned out, in this book everything is tossed in the air and nothing goes as planned for either. I really like Marcy she had a small part in the book was she was mighty. I would love to read her story next and see what trouble she gets into. This book has curse words and sex so may not be suitable for all. Over all this book was quick read and well worth it. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. A Cowboy's Song by Megan Ryder

Description:
Can they build a future on a shaky foundation?

Tyler “Ty” lost everything in a car accident when he was twelve, retreating into his shell so tightly that it took months for him to come out again. Music and the ranch saved him, and he will always be grateful to his foster family for saving his life. Now, with the ranch on financial tenterhooks, he wonders if he can use his music to contribute to the solution.

Piper Raines is the daughter of a legendary country music family. While her parents and brother are all famous, her attempt at an independent career went off the rails, and, with exhaustion and stress and bad press dogging her every step, she needs a place to recover. When Piper is invited to vacation at the ranch, Piper and Ty connect through horses and music. After a video duet of Piper and Ty goes viral, they’re invited to sing in Nashville, which also provides added pressure, stressing their new relationship.

My thoughts on the book:

When I started this book my first thought was please let it be good. Then I realize the brothers were back and knew it was going to be good and they were up to no good again. I loved catching up with Chase, Hailey, West and Tara. Ty is a broken souls looking for healing in his own way and the author did not disappoint as your taken on the journey to find himself. Oh Piper is a spit fire for sure with lots of sass but a down home girl all the same. Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read with lots of wonderful characters and I am so glad to catch up with them. I hope there is more to come from these fun characters. There is sex and cussing in this book so may not be suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Worth the Wait Traci Douglass

Description:

Mandy Reynolds needs a reset on life in so many ways. Her acting career isn’t exactly where she’d hoped it to be. She can’t even get a job as a germ for a commercial. When she inherits half a house she sees it as a sign and heads home to Heavenly Falls, Illinois. She’ll sell the house, and use the money to take her career to the next level in Los Angeles. That is if she can convince her hard-headed––and stupidly gorgeous–– ex-stepbrother, Alex Noonan, to sell fast.
The last time Alex saw Mandy, she was a gangly teen, who followed him around like a sad puppy. But she’s grown into a smart and funny woman, who is as frustrating as she is beautiful. The fact that they have to live in the house––together––while they fix it up, is one temptation he doesn’t need. And while he’s having fun spending time with her, she’s moving on soon, and he needs time to heal.

Plus, she has no idea he’s got a secret that could put a monkey wrench in all of her plans...
My thoughts on the book:

This story was cute over all, this book was a short read so it was a quick read. I did feel like some times it did drag and I felt like the author did repeat herself through out the story. I liked Mandy and Alex and however I felt like this story was completely predictable. There is sex implied but nothing in detail the language over all was very mild if not any I think maybe one or two words. Over all like I said the story was cute but predictable.

Collision of Lies Tom Threadgill

Description:
Threadgill plunges a detective from the San Antonio Property Crimes Division into a deep-laid plot involving murder, kidnapping, and myriad other crimes above her pay grade."--Kirkus Reviews

Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she's correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.

With time running out, Amara must convince others--and herself--that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.

A fresh voice in suspense, Tom Threadgill will have you questioning everything as you fly through the pages of this enthralling story.
My thoughts on the book:

I have never read anything by this author so I didn't know what to expect. I will start off by saying over all the story was good, there is no romance in this book at all the author hints at it throughout but I just was not ever part of the storyline as a whole ever. I did however felt like the book was wordy and some things I could have gone without. I will say the story will keep you guessing and leave you wondering who else is involved. This author does keep this story a clean read so it would be suitable for all. There are some tough issues that may not be ok with some but over all a very suspenseful book. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
