True-Blue Cowboy Sara Richardson- Rocky Mountain Riders #4

Description:
Can this cowboy be tamed?
Everly Brooks is finally living her dream. Renting a farm in Topaz Falls, Colorado, is the perfect antidote to her high-stress life back in San Francisco. It's the ideal place to raise chickens, grow veggies, and run her farm-to-table restaurant. There's just one problem: her new landlord. Mateo Torres is a handsome-as-hell bronc rider who oozes charm, melts hearts-and plans to kick Everly off the farm . . .

Mateo has dreams, too. He'd bought that land as an investment so he could take care of his mom and sisters, which means Everly has to go. Unfortunately for him, this former big-city girl is just as stubborn as the broncs he rides. When his trailer floods and forces him to move into Everly's farmhouse, things between them really start to heat up. Sure, living under the same roof might not be the best way to settle their dispute over the land. But when two rivals share everything-from heated words to scorching kisses-it's definitely the hottest.

My thoughts on the book:

Everly is finally doing something she loves when Mateo comes into her life things seem to be going against everything she has planned. Mateo will stop at nothing to do everything for his family. Can they both do what they love and protect their hearts?
I really enjoyed the books I have read in this series and this book did not disappoint. I really loved the friendships. I loved how a town can rally around each other and support each other. I really enjoyed how sweet, independent Everyly is she is hands down one of my favorite characters in this series. I really also loved reading about Kenna and I hope that she has a story coming one day. This book seemed like it flew and was a real page turner, I was kind of sad to see it end I can't wait for more. If you have never read any book in this series you can't go wrong.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.

The Hope Jar Wanda E. Brunstetter

Description:

What happens when making an elderly Amish couple very happy means going along with a lie that gets bigger by the day?

Michelle Taylor is not who her new family in Lancaster County believes her to be. The Lapps were looking for their long-lost granddaughter when they met Michelle and she assumed the identity of Sara Murray. Once homeless and hopeless, Michelle has come to love her new Amish friends and even considers the idea of romance among them.

Finding an old blue jar in the barn that is filled with slips of paper containing thoughts, quotes, and prayers by an unknown author becomes a boost to Michelle s budding faith but also convicting. How can she tell the truth without hurting the ones she has truly come to love?

My thoughts on the book:

This book review may contain what some people may think as a spoiler.
This book is about love, loss, finding hope and forgiveness.  I didn’t like the beginning or the end. In the end I was left with more questions then answers. It feels like their story’s not done that the book kind of end what I thought was abruptly. The middle parts so were good and you feel like you may be able to connect with some of the characters. The characters had depth but I felt like something was also missing. I did feel like the book over all had a little substance to it, it felt very juvenile. Overall the book is a simple read and suitable for all ages it’s a good clean read as well.

More the Meets the Eye Karen Witemeyer- Patchwork Family #1

Description:
Many consider Evangeline Hamilton cursed. Orphaned at a young age and possessing a pair of mismatched eyes--one bright blue, the other dark brown--Eva has fought to find her way in a world that constantly rejects her. Yet the support of even one person can help overcome the world's judgments, and Eva has two--Seth and Zach, two former orphans she now counts as brothers.

Seeking justice against the man who stole his birthright and destroyed his family, Logan Fowler arrives in 1880s Pecan Gap, Texas, to confront Zach Hamilton, the hardened criminal responsible for his father's death. Only instead of finding a solitary ruthless gambler, he discovers a man not much older than himself with an unusual family. When Zach's sister, Evangeline, insists on dousing Logan with sunshine every time their paths cross, Logan finds his quest completely derailed. Who is truly responsible for his lost legacy, and will restoring the past satisfy if it means forfeiting a future with Evangeline?

My thoughts on the book:

Logan is angry he’s out to get justice and if it’s done through vengeance then who cares no ones going to get more hurt then his mom already said right? Everyone thinks Evie is cursed but her hearts anything but.  Can they ever see eye, eye?
I am really torn by this book, I wanted to like it but I will be honest I wasn't a fan of the whole book, I liked bits and pieces. The book starts off amazing on the edge of your seat and then it crashes and takes almost the whole book to build back up again at the end. I liked Evie and her big heart I like how with what happened to her when she was younger she was not jaded by it but super strong and sweet. I liked Zach, Logan, and Seth they have this fight in them as well. This book is a good clean read, this book is a historical fiction but the author had the characters talk very modern. I received an advance copy from the publisher. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.

Shattered Mirror Sarah Price

Description:

A powerful novel of addiction, hope, and renewal from Sarah Price, the bestselling author of Heavenly Blues.
In any upscale suburban town, silence and shame blanket the hard truths. But college professor Kelly Martin can no longer deny the reality she lives every day: substance abuse is tearing her family apart. First, her ex-husband’s drinking destroyed their marriage. Now their seventeen-year-old son, Zach, is caught in the grip of drug addiction, fueled by a known drug dealer walking the halls of his high school. Kelly has two choices: watch helplessly and simply try to bear it or fight to save her son, who’s at the edge of suicidal depression.

When she encounters shocking disinterest, even hostility, from her ex-husband, her sister, her mother, and her former social circle, Kelly quickly realizes that she’s alone on this painful and frightening journey. But the race to rescue her child becomes an awakening for Kelly as she comes to understand the keys to her own heart and happiness.

My thoughts on the book:

Kelly seems to be fighting a never-ending battle, but its the one battle she is not willing to lose.

This book is so powerful, the author holds not a thing back, you will never find a "perfect" character in any of Sarah's book and it is refreshing it what you see is what you get.
These are like "real" people faced with real problems and their journey. Something in this book really resonated with me. Addiction knows no boundary and this book is proof of that. This book deals with some very tough and in your face subject but you will not be disappointed. This book is very well written in grabs you and you will not want to miss a thing or put the book down so amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone even teenagers who are being faced with addiction every day. This book may be about addiction, but it is also about forgiveness and finding hope when all is lost. By the way, if you are looking for Sarah's traditional Amish book this is not one of them but trust me you will not be disappointed it truly is an amazing read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

The Rancher’s Twins Carol Ross

Description:
She’s not the country nanny he advertised forBut she could be perfect for him…

Jon Blackwell needs a woman ready to tackle the duties of a cattle ranch and two lively, take-no-prisoners twin girls. But ever since Lydia Newbury showed up at his six-generation Montana spread, the frazzled single father is rethinking, well, everything. The Philadelphia dazzler is a marvel. What he doesn’t know is the secret that has Lydia on the run…

My thoughts on the book:

She may not be what he ordered but it seems no one but him minds. She is on the run and has a good reason and is looking forward to learning something new. She misses her friends but she knows the decision she made was the best if she can only prevent the past from catching up. Can she convince him he needs her and can he let the past go and move to a future that is best for his girls?

I have never read anything by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect and I was not disappointed. This book was so fun and a super quick read, I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the twins they were super fun to read about. I also really enjoyed Lydia and her amazing independent take no prisoners sassiness you always know what she was thinking she held nothing back. The author held nothing back. I loved how this book was a good clean read no foul language and suitable for all ages.  Seriously grab this book you won't be disappointed.  I received an advance copy. Set the Night on Fire Laura Trentham book #6

Description:

Cottonbloom is the perfect place for starting over, finding your way back home—and falling head over heels. . .

Ella Boudreaux has a lot to prove to her family, friends, and foes—and to herself. So when her marriage ends she decides to invest her energy and money into a place that brings back some of Ella’s happiest memories: the Abbott brothers’ garage. Maybe, if she puts her mind to it, she can teach skeptical, stubborn Mack Abbott how to make the business a true success. Which would be a lot easier if the hunky mechanic didn’t make her motor run quite so fast…and hot.

Mack was furious when his brother, Ford, sold his share of the business. He’s in no rush to team up with a wealthy divorcée who shows up to the garage in stilettos—and the longest, sexiest legs he’s seen in forever. But Ella’s grit and determination won’t quit…and soon Mack can see that she’s been down a few rough roads herself. Neither Mack nor Ella can deny the fierce attraction that’s revving up between them. Could it be that true love has been in the backseat all along…and they’ve finally found the key?

My thoughts on the book:

What has Ella got herself into? When she brought 1/4 of the garage she didn't know what she was getting into, but she was not backing down she is going to do everything like she has always done take it this situation by the horns. Mack is angry that his brother would sell his side of the garage to someone out of the family and he will do anything to get that back, everything is fair game, I mean it's not like anyone can get hurt right.

I have really enjoyed reading about the small town of Cottonbloom and I really hope that the author rights Ford's story. I love aunt Hazel and aunt Hy they are so sweet and they are so fun and makes you want some fun loving no none sense aunts to but into your life every day. I really enjoyed reading this story Ella was strong and independent but also had so struggled with her self-worth. Ella has such a big heart and she seems more like catching up with a friend instead of reading a fiction story. Mack was another broken spirit but to maucho to show it. I have read a few other books in this series and in this book I felt like there were a few sluggish spots but overall the book did flow fairly well. I also like how in the book you catch up with Sutton, Willa, Jackson, and Wyatt. This book talks about some tough subjects and has adult language/scenes. I can't wait to read more from Cottonbloom if you haven't read anything from this series grab them you won't be disappointed.

Heart of Glass Nicole Jacquelyn

Description:
The next standalone novel from Nicole Jacquelyn about love, friendship, and forgiveness.

Henry Harris was living his dream as a staff sergeant in the Marines. When he's killed in action, his devastated family is in for one more shock: he had a daughter they never knew about.

Morgan Riley has been raising Etta on her own, and that's always been fine by her - until Henry's brother Trevor arrives on her doorstep, willing to do anything to help and make up for his brother's mistakes. Their attraction feels wrong, but Morgan can't seem to turn him away.

Trevor is suddenly in too deep. He has always wanted a family, but Etta and Morgan come with complications. Yet as Etta brings them closer together, Trevor begins to imagine giving Morgan and Etta the life his brother never could. But he wonders if Morgan will ever learn to trust another man with her heart, especially a man whose last name is Harris.

My thoughts on the book:

Morgan has a two-year-old and she will stop at nothing to protect her little girl even it that is from her fathers family.  Trevor seeks out to find the women who hold the last tie to his brother. When finds her he doesn't know what he expected but he never expected to be attracted to her. Can they work together for Etta and their families and protect their hearts?

I usually don't like books that are told in a first person, however in this book the author did a good job at giving a perspective from both main characters. I really am not sure what I thought of this book. It flows well and you're not left guessing whats going to happen. I really liked how the author gave a big role to Etta she was always sassy and fun to read. I liked Morgan and how she was strong and broken but willing to put her love for her sister and her family no matter what. Trevor has a big heart and also will do anything to protect his family and those he loves. The characters deal with lots of emotional and hard tropics. I feel like the amount of strong language I could have done without.

Marsala & Magnolias SJ McCoy -The Hamilton Family #3

Description:
Antonio Di Giovanni is a passionate man. He’s passionate about running the family wine business and does it very successfully. He’s passionate about living well and having fun—he’s successful at that, too. He’s known as one of the hottest guys in Napa and for being seen with a different woman every night of the week. He’s used to getting what he wants in life and he only wants the best.

Mary Ellen Greene has worked hard in life. She’s overcome heartbreak and earned her way to a position as second-in-command at Hamilton-Groves. She’s created her own success in the world of wines, but she’s still a practical-minded, down-to-earth Midwestern girl at heart. She might have had a secret crush on Antonio for years, but it’s only a fantasy. He might look good, but he’s not her kind of guy.

As far as Mary Ellen’s concerned, Antonio is a good-looking, superficial playboy. He’s nice to daydream about but not someone she’d want to spend any time with – or is he?

Although these two have moved in the same social circles for years, they’ve never had a real conversation. She thinks he’s too much of a playboy; he thinks she’s too down-to-earth.

One phone call is about to change both their minds.

The Hamiltons Series

This series follows the Hamilton family in California wine country. If you recognize the name Hamilton it’s because this is Smoke’s family. They own one of the largest wine growing and distribution businesses in the country. In this set of connected stand-alone books, you will meet Smoke’s brother and sister as well as a couple of cousins.

Book 1: Red Wine and Roses
Book 2: Champagne and Daisies
Book 3: Marsala and Magnolias
Coming Soon
Prosecco and Peonies

My thoughts on the book:

Mary Ellen is shocked when she see's her ex-fiancé's name as one of the candidates up for a job opening and it seems everything is working against her. When Antonio seems to steps up and notices her she finds it a little fishy. After being hurt in a past relationship she’s now having a hard time believing the lines he’s feeding her is he for real or is this all just a big game to him?

I have fallen in love this Summer Lake and the characters from and surrounding the town. I loved this series so far and can't wait for more. The author did not disappoint with this book either. When the book is done I seemed to take a sigh not because its over but because I want more and I knew I have to wait. These characters feel more like you are coming home and catching up with friends. If you have never read any of this authors books grab one and get ready to want more by catching up with all the fun characters. This book does have adult scenes and some strong language so it may not be suitable for all readers. I love that this author ends her books with a semicolon to help support the semicolon project. The character's story is not over there is more to come just like your story there is still more to come. To learn more about the Semicolon Project check out projectsemicolon.com
