Shattered Mirror Sarah Price

Description:

A powerful novel of addiction, hope, and renewal from Sarah Price, the bestselling author of Heavenly Blues.
In any upscale suburban town, silence and shame blanket the hard truths. But college professor Kelly Martin can no longer deny the reality she lives every day: substance abuse is tearing her family apart. First, her ex-husband’s drinking destroyed their marriage. Now their seventeen-year-old son, Zach, is caught in the grip of drug addiction, fueled by a known drug dealer walking the halls of his high school. Kelly has two choices: watch helplessly and simply try to bear it or fight to save her son, who’s at the edge of suicidal depression.

When she encounters shocking disinterest, even hostility, from her ex-husband, her sister, her mother, and her former social circle, Kelly quickly realizes that she’s alone on this painful and frightening journey. But the race to rescue her child becomes an awakening for Kelly as she comes to understand the keys to her own heart and happiness.

My thoughts on the book:

Kelly seems to be fighting a never-ending battle, but its the one battle she is not willing to lose.

This book is so powerful, the author holds not a thing back, you will never find a "perfect" character in any of Sarah's book and it is refreshing it what you see is what you get.
These are like "real" people faced with real problems and their journey. Something in this book really resonated with me. Addiction knows no boundary and this book is proof of that. This book deals with some very tough and in your face subject but you will not be disappointed. This book is very well written in grabs you and you will not want to miss a thing or put the book down so amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone even teenagers who are being faced with addiction every day. This book may be about addiction, but it is also about forgiveness and finding hope when all is lost. By the way, if you are looking for Sarah's traditional Amish book this is not one of them but trust me you will not be disappointed it truly is an amazing read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Heavenly Blues Sarah Price

Description:
In this powerful narrative, bestselling author Sarah Price takes us on the dark road to addiction.
Laura Reese is losing control. Compassionate and conscientious, she excels as a post-op nurse, but her new supervisor doesn’t care how much she needs time off. Although she’s a selfless wife and mother, news of her husband’s promotion only fills her with anxiety. The country-club lifestyle he craves triggers memories of the dysfunctional family she came from, and of her own mother’s single-minded ambition to climb the social ladder.
Laura has reached a breaking point. For her, there’s only one way to pull it all together, to balance the demands of her family and job, and to keep pleasing everyone she loves. But her little blue pills are pushing her closer to the edge…

My thoughts on the book:

Laura is starting to feel overwhelmed by life. It seems everyone wants something from her and now the holidays on upon her and she just can't seem to get a break. Her new boss seems to want to make everything that much harder and she is not about to make this transition easy. All she needs is a little something to get through it all and she knows it will give her a break, I mean it can't be that bad right?
Just like other books I have read of Sarah’s this one does not hold back and will not disappoint at all. Sarah’s not afraid to write/talk about some tough subjects in her books and that was very much the case with Heavenly Blues.  I loved how she held nothing back in this book. Addiction whether legal or illegal is facing our nation and this book was a total eye opener to that. Addiction doesn’t have a face it can effect anyone. This book is so worth the read and is so so amazing. Once you start the book you will not want to put it down the author did an amazing job at sucking you in to the story and leaving you wanting more with every page.
