The Mountain Monroes

Book 1: Kissed by the Country Doc
Book 2: Snowed in with the Single Dad
Book 3: Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy
Book 4: Lassoed by the Would-Be Rancher
Book 5: Enchanted by the Rodeo Queen
Book 6: Charmed by the Cook’s Kids
Book 7: The Littlest Cowgirls

My thoughts on the book:

I am so excited I got to catch up with the Mountain Monroes' again. I always feel like this family is loud in your face, yet down to earth and some how in all the craziness a little relatable. I loved catching up with the characters from the other books kind of makes me want to go back and re-read those stories again. I really have to be honest at first and off an on through out the book I really wanted to smack Wyatt he was so pompous and so far up his you know what he became wishy washy but in the end he goes on you and you get it. I liked Ashley why she had some guilt she dealt with it didn't seem like taking "no" was ever an answer she was stubborn and would stop at nothing to make sure her sister had what she needed. I really overall enjoyed reading this book I liked that the author did keep it a clean read as well. I am not sure if this is the last of the Monroes or not but I hope not they have just been so fun read about and I truly can not wait for more. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Hometown Proposal C.J. Carmichael

Description:

She’s looking for a second chance to reconnect with her daughter but finds so much more.

Since her husband’s climbing death a year ago, Maureen Shannon’s relationship with her twelve-year-old daughter has spiraled out of control. Desperate, she resigns from her partnership at a legal firm and moves back to her hometown in Whitefish, Montana, with the hope that family and nature can heal their wounds. Her investment in a heli-skiing and lodge operation makes financial sense, but her attraction to the owner doesn’t. He’s everything she’s come to hate—a man who makes his living chasing adventure.

Jake Hartman knows Maureen Shannon is off limits. She’s an investor in his company—a silent investor who's never silent. Worse, she’s a mom who’s beautiful, intelligent and makes him feel more alive than he’s ever known. A self-confirmed bachelor, he finds himself uneasily contemplating a very different partnership.

But will Maureen be able to let go of her past and build a future with a man who never imagined becoming a husband or a father?

My thoughts on the book:

I really enjoyed this story I am sure this is the finally for this series and if that is the case then the author went out with a bang with this one. You know a twist is coming but you are not sure what the author is going to throw at you with this one that was for sure. I Maureen my heart broke for her and some of the things she faced were tough. I liked Jake he came off a little immature but you do see him grow in this story. Holly I would have loved to see her get a hard talking to, ugh the amount of disrespect was a lot, but I see in the end why the author did what she did. Over all this is a good clean read and I really did enjoy it and had a hard time putting it down. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Ethan: Black Sheep Cowboy, Maddie James The Parker Ranches, Inc., #7

 Description:

Navy SEAL Ethan MacKay returns to Sweet Grass Ranch to recuperate from an injury suffered on a mission, and eventually help manage the South Dakota family ranch with his identical twin brother, Evan. But he's been gone too long, and he's not the man who left the ranch over a dozen years ago. Not by a long shot. His body broken, and hopefully not his mind, he prays what they say is true--that cowboy runs deep in your blood--because this black sheep cowboy could sure use something familiar to hang his hat on.

But being back home at Sweet Grass is almost more of a challenge than heading up a special ops mission in Libya, especially when something familiar turns out to be the major challenge--his ex-wife, Brandley Mendoza.

Brandley and Ethan's marriage quickly unraveled when he headed into SEAL training, and by the time of his first deployment, their relationship was fatally severed. Still, she keeps in close contact with the MacKays and considers them family. Hired by Ethan's brother to review the ranch's accounting books after their father's death, Brandley soon discovers Evan has an ulterior motive. Why he thinks she is the person to help Ethan get his head back on straight, she doesn't know, especially when she's dealing with problems of her own--namely, her ex-husband, who is seeking full custody of their daughter.

But she risks coming down from her Black Hills safe haven to find out--only to realize that her heart is still vulnerable, and that Ethan isn't the cowboy she fell in love with when they were kids.

Can Brandley tease out the cowboy in Ethan's black sheep heart and rediscover the love they once shared? Can she resolve the issues of her own shaky past, to let herself trust again? Or are they both too far gone to even try?

My thoughts on the book:

This is a new to me author so I did not know what to expect with this book. In the beginning of the book I felt like the curse words were just a little to much, I mean a curse word here and there is a book I can work with but it seemed for a good portion of the beginning it felt like every other word. Once you get to about the middle of the book things get really interesting and I did find the book hard to put down after that. I Like Bradley and Ethan but I felt like even though it was their story being told it also came back to being about Ethan's family and how they need to work to help each other out which was fun. I loved Sadie why she was young and she faced some tough things the author didn't sugar coat it at all which made the story relatable. Over all this book while has strong language and sexual content it was a good read. I feel like this is not the end for this group so who knows next where the author will take this family. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Perfect Amish Romance Shelley Shepard Gray

5 out of 5 stars

  Description:

From New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray comes a new series that follows a bookmobile driver-turned-matchmaker who learns that her Amish patrons need a whole lot more than just new books to read.

Aaron Coblentz has a secret: he’s been studying to take the GED to get promoted at work. But he can’t let his Amish family know, not when his older brother already left the faith just a year after getting baptized, practically crippling the family. When Aaron asks bookmobile librarian Sarah Anne Miller for some additional study guides, she does one better. She arranges for Kayla Kaufman to be his tutor.

Kayla has a secret, too. Her life has been turned upside down in a matter of months—her mother’s death propelled her father into a constant state of depression, and unable to deal with his erratic behavior, her longtime boyfriend has broken things off. But despite losing those she holds most dear, she hasn’t completely given up on love. Only now she seeks to find it in the sweet romance novels she secretly checks out from Sarah Anne’s bookmobile.

As Aaron and Kayla’s study sessions start to feel less like work and more like pleasure, they soon realize that happily ever afters don’t only happen in fiction; sometimes they happen when you least expect it.

From a “skilled storyteller who reminds the reader that faith can help us survive the ups and downs in life” (RT Book Reviews), A Perfect Amish Romance is a moving and deftly told story that paints a heartwarming picture of the magic of true love.

My thoughts on the book:

I really liked this book, I felt like the book was more geared towards a younger reader (teenagers), however I feel like as an adult reader it was still a very fun read. I liked Kayla she was very independent and very strong willed willing to keep fighting now matter what she faced. Aaron he came off kind of immature at first but I felt like the more you read he seems to grow up a lot. Joel and Tiny was fun to read about as well and you can tell they were both immature but looking to grow up as well. I LOVED Sarah she was hands down my favorite she has a heart for everyone that comes into her life weather big or small, long or short. She truly felt like an angel/grandmother to so many in this book while trying to find more about her self. I really don't think I can say anything negative about this book over all it was just a really good read and draws you in and you want to find out what is going to happen next. This is a good clean read as well.

My thoughts on the book:

I have read a few books in this series and have really enjoyed them it was really fun to catch up with past characters in this book. I really liked this book a lot. I feel like some books have a lesson to learn in them I’m not sure if authors intend for that but it happens. I feel like that was the case in this story. We each need to conquer our fears and find the love in them and around ourselves. I really liked how Sophie, Trisha, and Nadine all felt like real people and not characters it was easy to feel like I was catching up with friends with them. I did like Chase he seemed like he knew what he wanted but also took the time to want to learn. Over all this was a clean read and a fun read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Delilah’s not only as talented as she is beautiful, she’s impossible to fool. Or forget.

My thoughts on the book:

I really liked this book it was so cute, the characters felt really relatable which is so fun. I did feel at the beginning Delilah came off a little whiney but the more I read and the more her story was told she became less whiney and more understood. I liked the push and pull with Jock their personalities made it fun. The book for the most part was clean there was one scene with sexual content but over all the author kept it fun and simple. I really enjoyed tis fun love story and I really enjoyed the family factor in this fun story as well. I loved Delilah's Meemaa she was a pistol and so so fun. Over all this book was worth the read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lethal Intent Cara C. Putman

  Description:

If they expected silence, they hired the wrong woman.

Caroline Bragg’s life has never been better. She and Brandon Lancaster are taking their relationship to the next level, and she has a new dream job as legal counsel for Praecursoria—a research lab that is making waves with its cutting-edge genetic therapies. The company’s leukemia treatments even promise to save desperately sick kids—kids like eleven-year-old Bethany, a critically ill foster child at Brandon’s foster home.

When Caroline’s enthusiastic boss wants to enroll Bethany in experimental trials prematurely, Caroline objects, putting her at odds with her colleagues. They claim the only goal at Praecursoria is to save lives. But does someone have another agenda?

Brandon faces his own crisis. As laws governing foster homes shift, he’s on the brink of losing the group home he’s worked so hard to build. When Caroline learns he’s a Praecursoria investor, it becomes legally impossible to confide in him. Will the secrets she keeps become a wedge that separates them forever? And can she save Bethany from the very treatments designed to heal her?

This latest romantic legal thriller by bestseller Cara Putman shines a light on the shadowy world of scientific secrets and corporate vendettas—and the ethical dilemmas that plague the place where science and commerce meet.

“Intriguing characters. Romantic tension. Edge-of-your-seat suspense. And a fast-paced ending that will leave you exhausted (in a good way!).” —Robert Whitlow, award-winning author of Promised Land

My thoughts on the book:

This author never seems to disappoint with her books, they always keep me on the edge of my seat wondering what is coming. That was the very case with this book, I get to thinking its one person who does it then she has another character acting shady and wondering if they did it. I really liked Caroline even though at one point I was yelling at her in this book. She has a heart of gold and will stop at nothing to help those she cares about or comes in contact with. Brandon was a huge heart for families who just need to be together. There is something that Brandon seeks and I really hope that the author intends to follow up with that situation in a future book because a girl has got to know. Overall this book is well worth the read, she keeps it clean and has you walking away wanting more. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Special Ops Seduction Megan Crane

Description:

She's the last woman he ever wanted to see again...

After an official operation turned deadly, Jonas Crow began a new life in Grizzly Harbor with Alaska Force. But when fellow soldier Bethan Wilcox joins the group, she forces him to remember things he actively prefers to forget. That’s unforgivable enough. But now the two of them are forced together on a mission to uncover deadly secrets tied to their complicated past, and with the heat between them at a boil, forgiveness is the least of his worries...

And the only woman he needs.

Bethan Wilcox, one of the first women to make it through Army Ranger school, didn't join Alaska Force to deal with Jonas's foul temper. Or her own errant attraction to him. Thrown together in a race against the clock, they have to pretend to be a couple and play nice to throw the enemy off their scent. She knows better than to let their pretend love feel real...especially while time is running out.

Jonas has always been good at saving the world. But it’s Bethan he needs to save this time around—if she doesn’t save him first.

My thoughts on the book:

I liked Bethen I thought she was this hard @ss but also had this sweet side to her that only the very privileged got to see. The story was very predictable and to me sometimes all over the place. I found it hard to keep engaged in the story over all. I liked the Alaskan Force team and being able to catch up with those I have read about. I felt like the book seemed to have a lot of detail but also seemed to lack something. There was a situation between Bethan and Jonas that the author seemed to build on but when it came to head it really seemed minimal to what was really going on and made no sense for Jonas' attitude to the situation. This book does have sexual content in it and may not be suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Cowboy for Keeps Jody Hedlund

 Description:

Greta Nilsson's trip west to save her ailing little sister, Astrid, could not have gone more wrong. First, bandits hold up her stagecoach, stealing all her money. Then, upon arriving in Fairplay, Colorado, she learns the man she was betrothed to as a mail-order bride has died. Homeless, penniless, and jobless, Greta and her sister are worse off than when they started.

Wyatt McQuaid is struggling to get his new ranch up and running and is in town to purchase cattle when the mayor proposes the most unlikely of bargains. He'll invest in a herd of cattle for Wyatt's ranch if Wyatt agrees to help the town become more respectable by marrying and starting a family. And the mayor, who has promised to try to help Greta, has just the candidate in mind for Wyatt to marry.

My thoughts on the book:

This book is set in the 1800's, and is more of a western romance style book. The storyline was cute overall. I did like Astrid, she was a pistol and being a handful summed her up for sure. I really liked Judd, he was a silent type but when he spoke it was with wisdom and you took notice. The book was a clean read overall. I do feel like the book did drag some so I had a hard time keeping my attention. I felt like something was missing in a sense but if you are looking for a clean read that's a mail order bride on her journey to find a better place for her sister, then this book might be for you. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

As more victims fall prey days after the initial outbreak, time’s running out to hunt down the killer, one who may be closer to the victims than anyone ever expected.

My thoughts on the book:

So I want to say as most readers know it doesn't take an author over night to write a book but having this book release during a world wide pandemic just about did me in. I felt like I was there she could have ripped this from the headlines, it was super crazy. I like to guess who done it earlier on and write it down just to see if I was write in the end. Well in the case I was but it was totally touch and go for a while the author literally keeps you guessing what was around the next corner. I really liked this book I really like Heather and all her friends she made they each had a strength about them that just popped off the pages. Over all this was clean read book and so well worth it.
