Starfish Pier Irene Hannon- Hope Harbor #6

Description:
A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good--but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected.

First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a quiet, low-profile existence--until she's recruited to advocate for a cause that's dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven's assistance, sparks fly--especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.

As these two seemingly incompatible souls search for common ground, might they discover a deeper connection--and find that love can banish darkness and light the way to a future filled with promise?

Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites you back to Hope Harbor--where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.

My thoughts on the book:

I would say this book does discuss some very tough issues. The author had a way of getting to the heart of the matter that's for sure. I did feel like the book dragged some. I like Steven why he faced his own demons he had a big heart of wanting to help those around him. As in all Hope Harbor book Charley, Gladys and Floyd make appearances through out and I always love them they have a way of  adding a good laugh to the story, but Charley has away of knowing just what to say when it needs to be said and giving the guidance and wisdom. I had mix feeling on Holly but in the end she grew on me. Over all this is a good clean read and may be suitable to all. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Perfect Distraction Allison Ashley

Description:

Lauren Taylor isn't thinking about love, especially not with the impossibly attractive man she accidentally spilled coffee all over. He's out of her league and she's focused on finishing her oncology pharmacy residency. She's sworn off men who are too handsome for their own good, anyway.

Andrew Bishop can't stop thinking about the gorgeous redhead who crashed into him and then disappeared, even though he should have way more on his mind - like dealing with his Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis and finishing out his last year in law school. When Andrew and Lauren run into each other at the cancer center where she's working and he's being treated, they try to keep it professional. They can be friends, and nothing more.

But sometimes life has other plans…

My thoughts on the book:

This book was so good and super cute. It was also hard a little too, the reason I say that is because the main character has cancer and it deals with the journey through that the author held nothing back while telling this story. But one thing was clear through out life is precious and you don't want to take it for granted. Why this story is fiction it felt like it was very much real. I love Jeni and I hope she gets her own story she was one sister I think we all wish we had. I loved Lauren and her big heart. This book was full of puns so you are guaranteed to laugh regardless. There are a few curse words but overall this is a clean read. So worth the read.

The Faded photo Sarah Price

Description:
Some things should be kept private. Frances Snyder can never quite get her mother’s voice out of her head—how to be the perfect wife, the perfect mother. Frances’s home life is demanding, and while she’s busy seeing to everyone else’s needs, Frances doesn’t have the luxury of spare time.

So when she is diagnosed with breast cancer, she thinks that she can handle it on her own. Dealing with endless tests, brutal chemotherapy, and the looming specter of surgery, Frances chooses to face cancer on her own terms: alone. That is, until she finally understands that unexpected friendship—and unconditional love—can offer hope in the darkest hours.

With tenderness, grace, and flashes of humor, bestselling author Sarah Price draws upon her own experience as a breast cancer survivor to create a story about one woman’s determined and solitary journey into the unknown—in hopes that she’ll find her way back home.

My thoughts on the book:
Frances is on this journey and its a journey she believes is better kept under wraps, some secrets are better left that way in private. But along the process she struggles with friends, family and healing. Can she fight this her way and have it go the way she planned or will she need those close to her more then she realizes?
Where can I even begin with this book. This book hits super close to home with me. This book is not a traditional amish book that Sarah is known for but this book is just as good and just as amazing. I truly read this book in one sitting and was not going to bed till I found out what happened. I had a very much love hate relationship with Carrie and Nicholas and wanted to reach in the book and throttle Nicholas. I loved Andy his sweet spirit no matter what but a typical teenager all the same. I really enjoyed Madeline and how Sarah gave her this mystery that a made you want to know more about her. I loved how Sarah did not make this family perfect how she made them feel like you were catching up with friends rather then reading a story. This story is so worth the read and you so can not go wrong. Grab this book and then share your thoughts with me below and let me know your thoughts.

Life After Perfect Nancy Naigle (Montlake Romance series)

What's the book about:
Katherine Barclift had it all: the perfect job, the perfect car, and what she thought was the perfect marriage. But when her entire world collapses in one stomach-churning instant, she hits the road and keeps driving until that so-called “perfect life” is just a dot in her rearview mirror.
A chance encounter leads her to make a pit stop in Boot Creek, a drowsy little North Carolina town where she can call herself Katy, soak up the peace and quiet…and drink in the bluer-than-blue eyes of Derek Hansen, a local doctor still wrestling with his own painful past. Both Katy and Derek are wary about giving romance another shot, but they can’t deny the intense attraction between them. And if being in Boot Creek has taught them anything, it’s to take life as it comes and never pass up a chance at true love…no matter how wounded your heart may be.
My thoughts on the book:

Katherine "Katy" was living the perfect life, she only missing one thing and she knows it would be really close if not soon she would get it. Then everything change in one instant and she felt like her whole world has fallen apart when, when she hits the road and is ready to find herself again. Derek is starting over again in his hometown and is facing his own healing process. He run into Katy and just knows there is something special there, he just doesn't know what.
This book is hard to put down and its amazing the storyline keeps you drawn in and I found my self staying up late just to keep reading and wanting to find out what happens. This author did an amazing job connecting with the reader and the characters. The characters where amazing, they where really fun and you had a few very serious moments that really get to the heart of the matter.  I really hope that there is a story for Angie. You can not go wrong with this book.

Drawn to Life Elisabeth Wagner

What's the book about:

Mia Lang always thought she could brave any storm, until a frightening turn of fate caused her to lose everything she once held dear—her best friend, her boyfriend, her career, and even her desire to live.

Hoping to heal her scars and find the will to face the world again, Mia embarks on an adventure across Europe by train. But when she meets Samuel Winter—on the run from his own troubled past—her whole world is turned upside down again. Perhaps this time, though, the pieces will fall where they’re meant to. Armed with the sort of courage that only comes from having nothing to lose, Mia is about to find out, in this beautiful story of resilience and discovery.

My thoughts on the book:
Mia is on a journey to find life and find her self or at least thats what she keeps telling her self and her family and friends, only theres on problems and it keeps following her no matter where she goes.
Samuel(Sam) he's on a journey of his own his needs to find who he is but he's hiding secret and he himself need to find closure he just doesn't know how or when that will help.
Alright my first thoughts on the book were its very graphic and written more as a journal/diary then a story. However as you read the story the pages seem to draw you in and you really want to find out what happens. i am not a big fan of first person stories, however with this book I will say that it did not disappoint and it became a on the edge of your seat type of book. I can say there is not a whole lot of chemistry but as you read you understand why, but what there is does a good job of drawing you in to the story its self. Over all I was not really disappoint with the book or the storyline is worth the read.

Montana Maverick Debra Salonen

What's the book about:
Be careful what you wish for-
Meg Zabrinski, successful scientist, well-known environmental advocate, and tenured professor is as independent as they come in Montana. She doesn’t need a man in her life, but she does want to have a baby. She retreats to her isolated mountain cabin to write and ponder her future when Henry Firestone–an old rival and former secret crush from her distant past–drops out of the sky on Christmas Eve with three young children and a baby. Meg doesn’t believe in cosmic signs, but even she realizes she’d be crazy not to consider all her options.
The sparks that have always smoldered between them ignite a mutual passion, but when Henry Firestone makes it clear he’s done having children, Meg is forced to accept that falling in love with Henry and his ready-made family would require her to abandon her dream. Can this “Lone Wolf” assimilate into a new pack, or is this Big Sky Maverick meant to be alone?

My thoughts on the book:

Meg is set to be on her own for the holidays to get some much needed time relaxing and thinking done, all while trying to write her book so has been itching to write. Henry is set to take on trying to be the best dad and the best grandpa anyone could ask for what he doesn’t expect it panic to set in when everything around him seems to be falling apart.

I love being back in Marietta, Montana and catching up with these lovely folks, I just love this town. I loved the trueness of this book, the trueness of these people. I love being able to get loss in this book. I felt like with this story I was reading a letter from a friend and catching up instead of just reading a book. I feel like there is nothing I can say negative about this book. The chemistry between the characters and the well written storyline keeps you going from the being to the end. It will draw you in and you will have a hard time putting this book down. If you are looking for a good read with a lot of love this and not just another sappy story this is the book for you.

Where the Road Takes Me Jay McLean

What's the book about:
Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.

Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.

One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead

My thoughts on the book:

I have to say when I first started this book out I was kind of turned off by all the strong language, The story and the book its self is amazing and I think that it was well written and could have been that much better without the language. Now that being said I really, really liked this book, it was not what I expected at all. Two young adults faced with life in a harsh way and how they set to deal with it is amazing. I loved the small side story of Josh and Tommy they had just as much to do with this story and making it. This book deals with a lot of hard things and a lot of love, but overall the story will not disappoint. Once I started reading it I had a hard time stopping, the book was just that good. Hard to put down for sure.
