The Thirteenth Chance Amy Matayo

Description:

Baseball star Will Vandergriff knows any number of women who would happily pretend to be his girlfriend. In a last-ditch effort to restore his good standing with his team’s higher-ups, he enlists the help of his neurotic, goody-goody neighbor. Schoolteacher Olivia Pratt might be a bit quirky and a bit of a loner, but she’s a lot more inviting than she knows. Will hopes that bringing her to his next game might revamp his reckless reputation and help get his career back on track. The only problem? The plan works a little too well. Not only do the higher-ups love Olivia, but Will plays his best game yet. Suddenly his losing streak is a thing of the past, and Olivia is his new good-luck charm. Will feels anything but lucky.
After years of keeping the world at bay, Olivia Pratt is pulling off the ultimate performance—not only reluctantly posing as Will’s girlfriend but also insisting that she’s oblivious to his major-league appeal. But she can only lie to herself for so long. Being by Will’s side feels good. Really good. Maybe it’s finally time to make a pitch for everything she really wants—and to find out just how exhilarating love can be.

My thoughts on the book:

Olivia has been through some hard stuff and she's got her two feet under her and is conquering her world just one day at a time, until her no good neighbor try and destroy some of her peace and quiet. Will is not to happy to be playing in Houston but since the game is in his blood he will take what he can get until something better comes along. But when Will needs a favor from his "crazy" neighbor he knows two things, its a long shot and he won't allow it to go on for long. Will Olivia and Will survive this craziness or will they end up left worst off then before they started?
When I first started the book I didn't like how the book was from the first person point of view and I felt that Olivia and Will came of kind of whinny. However on both points that changed because while yes the book is first person point of view the other wrote the story from both point of views so you really did not miss anything at all. Also the characters attitude changed and they were relatable and dynamite. I really really fell in love with this book. I loved how fun the characters came and I really fell in love with Olivia while she had some secrets and she had struggles she was a fighter and was not about to take anything thing from anyone. I really enjoyed how while Will was this hot shot ball player he was completely likable. If you love football and you love just an overall good book check this one out you won't be disappoint. I have never read anything from Amy (and even though she took a shot at my favorite baseball team) I can't wait to read more from her.
