Cold Shot Dani Pettrey, Chesapeake Valor Series Book #1

Description:

In college, Griffin McCray and his three best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world--and friendships--crumbled.

Now Griffin is a park ranger at Gettysburg, having left life as a SWAT-team sniper when a case went bad. The job is mostly quiet--until the day he captures two relic hunters uncovering skeletal remains near Little Round Top. Griffin just wants the case to go away, but charming forensic anthropologist Finley Scott determines that the body is modern--a young social justice lawyer missing since spring--and all evidence points to the work of an expert sniper. When FBI agent Declan Gray takes over the case, past and present collide. Griffin soon realizes he'll need to confront some of the darkest days of his life if he--and those he cares about--are going to escape a downward spiral of murder that crosses continents.

My thoughts on the book:

Griffin has love and he has lost, he lost someone very close to him and his best friend went missing. Griffin left his job as a SWAT sniper agent and he is ready to put that life behind him. As working as a ranger he stumbles upon two guys and a dead boy on what should have been a battle field in the civil   war. What he discover puts him and his friends in what appears grave danger. They seek to find out whats happening and he needs to do one thing protect Finley and keep his heart in tact and his mind on the game it seems these guys are playing. Finley is a Forensic Anthropologist and is called out when a dead body is found and it brings back a situation that seems to hit to close to home for her and she knows she need to fight the demons of the past and get to the bottom of this murder. But when things start happening it appears that someone has it out to stop them at no cost. Will Finley, Griffin and his friends be able to find the killers and bring them to justice or will one of them end up dead?

Oh My gosh what can I say about this book, from the first page it had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed this book just when you think you have the story figured out the author throws in  a twist to the story. The author does an amazing job at keeping you hooked on the story till the very end. I can't wait to read more from these friends. The twist and turns in the story truly will keep wanting more and keeps you guessing till the very end. This book is listed as a romance suspense, while there is a ton of suspense in the book there is not a whole lot of romance but the way its played out is very natural and doesn't seemed forced at all, and its the perfect amount. You really can not go wrong with this book its a good clean read with a suspense add to the mix.
