Deadlock DiAnn Mills

What's the book about:
Two murders have rocked the city of Houston. Are they the work of a serial killer, or is a copycat trying to get away with murder?

That is the question facing Special Agent Bethany Sanchez, who is eager for her new assignment in violent crimes but anxious about meeting her new partner. Special Agent Thatcher Graves once arrested her brother, and he has a reputation for being a maverick. Plus, their investigative styles couldn’t be more opposite: he operates on instinct, while she goes by the book.

When hot leads soon fizzle out, their differences threaten to leave them deadlocked. But an attempt on their lives turns up the heat and brings them closer together, and a third victim might yield the clue that will help them zero in on a killer. This could be the case of their careers . . . if they can survive long enough to solve it.

My thoughts on the book:

This book is about two FBI agents who are pared up on their first case together and office rumors have them both wondering if this is going to be a good fit. Bethany has some struggles she is dealing with, with her family and she knows she needs to set them aside and focus on the case. It seems she just can't shake the drama. Thatcher has his own set of family issues he's dealing with the loss of his dad and he knows there is some unfinished business but he knows he needs to focus on his new parter and this case and find the person who is out to kill them and the people of Houston. Well they be able to set their personal feeling aside a get through this case or will it all just blow up?

Once I realized this was part of a series I grabbed the other two books and read those first, they were outstanding, so I expected nothing less from this book. I have to say I was a little disappointed in this book, it was not a really "on the edge of your seat" kind of book like the first two. While the book did have some moments of "oh I need to know what happens" I felt like it lacked something. I also felt this book was a lot more predictable the the other two. The end I did not see it playing out the way it did, it did have a remarkable end that was BAM. I will say that there was a part in the book that the author seemed to spend some time on and never followed back up on. Over all I would say while there are some cons to this book there are more pros and the book is worth the read.
