Description:
Fans of Jill Shalvis, Susan Mallery, and RaeAnne Thayne will love the fourth book in Olivia Miles's Briar Creek series.
Love is always in season . . .
Florist Ivy Birch fantasizes about the day a man will surprise her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Especially if that man happens to be Brett Hastings. One stolen kiss at her best friend's wedding and Ivy can't get the sexy ER doctor out of her head.
In the small town of Briar Creek, you can't avoid anyone for very long. Not that Brett has been trying to avoid Ivy. He just can't afford to let anything distract him from his work-not again. So when a hospital fundraiser throws them together, love is the last thing on his mind. But with her quick wit and sweet laugh, soon the one woman he's tried to keep at arm's length is capturing his heart...
My thoughts on the book:
Ivy has had a lot going on in her life she has craved to have the family she never had growing up. When Ivy runs into her high school crush at a wedding and things go right where she wants and then she never hears from Brett after the wedding she wonders if she will ever be able to have her forever family. When she runs into him again months later she wonders if her secrets will keep them apart forever. Brett has been fighting his own demons for some time and one is guilt. He is not happy to have to return home but he knows its only temporary and as long as he keeps focused on the here and now he knows he can get through it. But when his feeling start to change towards the way he is viewing life and family he wonders if all along he has been making the best choices.
I loved the cover of this book and figured it would be a book about two who are reconnected and fall in love and maybe a little humor and fun along the way. I found this book on the boring side I lost interest in the story, what started off as a great story line seem to drag and almost become whinny, it seemed to repeat itself a lot.
Every chapter I kept waiting for something to change but it was this back and forth through almost the whole book, by time you figure out nothing was going to change much you had to keep reading because you were almost done. I found the book lacking much of a story. I Think I really enjoyed Kara and her side story through the book I kept hoping for more for her. She seemed to lack confidence and self worth but with love from friends and family she seemed not the way to find that.
This book was just not for me and did contain adult scenes so may not be ok for all readers.
