Being Known Robin Jones Gunn- Haven Maker's #2

Description:

From the bestselling author of Becoming Us comes a novel that asks: What does it mean to be truly known? In a marriage, in a friendship, or by a loving God?

After her mom passed away, Jennalyn was in the midst of moving, adjusting to life with a new baby, and helping her husband, Joel, work toward his dream job. At the time, she thought she’d processed her mother’s death, but only now that Jennalyn has two small children, a lovely new home, and a husband who is always working does she feel the full impact of what she has lost.

Even among her sweet circle of friends, the Haven Makers, grief silently overwhelms Jennalyn, until an unexpected encounter allows her to express herself in ways she hasn’t fully been able to with her husband. Even though Christy, Sierra, Emily, and Tess provide a soft place to land in times of tension, Jennalyn remains guarded, especially when Tess reveals she is tangled emotionally in a relationship that was thorny from the start.

Will the two women open up and remain honest with the others in their Haven Makers group? Or will their hesitation to truly be known, faults and all, keep them from holding on to the friendships that have been the sweetest gift during this season of life?

My thoughts on the book:

Just like Becoming Us this book is about friendship and finding hope in the Lord and those friendships. I felt like this book got really to the heart of the matter with Jennalyn, with her missing her mom and the struggles she faces. This book was told in a first person point of view and I was not a fan of that. The author keeps this book clean so that is so nice allowing suitable for age appropriate readers. I think it goes back to this author has written about Christy for years and this series seems to be the adult version and the friendships she is forming along the way. I love these group of women and their friendships. Life is not perfect and life always hands you trials and the author doesn't try and make anything perfect or sugar coat anything. If you are looking for a fun read that's a breathe of fresh air and a little different then other books out there,  this is worth the read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Cowboy Rebel Carolyn Brown -(Longhorn Canyon #4)

Description:

A wild Texas cowboy is about to meet his match in an ER nurse in this heartwarming romance from a USA Today bestseller, which includes a bonus novella from Annie Rains.

Ever since losing his best friend in a motorcycle accident, Taggart Baker wants to make every moment count. No dare is too dangerous, no adventure too crazy for this cowboy. But after one bad brush with the law, he realizes it's time to ditch his hooligan friends and grow up. Now he's running his own ranch next to the Longhorn Canyon spread in Texas. Still, no one would ever call him tame.

Nikki Grady has worked too hard for her RN license just to throw it away for some reckless cowboy who shows up in her emergency room after a barroom brawl. But she can't help being drawn to Tag's sense of humor and those crystal blue eyes. The more time they spend together, the more she sees his good heart. But just as Tag seems ready to settle down for good, his troubled past comes calling-and this time he won't be able to walk away so easily.

Includes the bonus novella A Wedding on Lavender Hill by Annie Rains: When an event planner is asked to create the perfect wedding in just three days, she must turn to the last person she wants to ask for help -- the infuriating owner of the house on the hilltop.

My thoughts on the book:

I really liked this book it was a fun read for sure. My heart broke for Nikki I felt so bad for her because of all the things she faced with her mom and how she seemed to crave this "mother/daughter" relationship that just didn't seem to work because of who her mom is. I really enjoyed how the relationship with Tag and Nikki was a gradual thing and not all about how strong the chemistry was an how to make it work after, it just felt natural. Tag was this bad boy in training but looking for a reason to see more in life and the struggle was so evident with him. I really enjoyed the relationship that Tag has with his siblings and how important they are to him and he is to them even though he choose to "live like he is dying." Oh my goodness and how can you not love the fab 5 and the fun they add they were such a hoot. I loved how the author used a ton of country song reference in the book which was fun. This book has some a adult language and situations. This book was fun read and I can't wait to read more from these fun characters I really can't wait to see what happens with Hud and the Irish Brothers soon.I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. Kissed by the Country Doc Melinda Curtis- The Mountain Monroes #1

Description:

She came to sell a town…

But she found a home

Never in her wildest dreams could single mom Ella Monroe imagine co-inheriting the small town of Second Chance, Idaho—or falling for its curmudgeonly doctor, Noah Bishop. Despite his rough edges and protests for isolation, Noah has her believing in love at first sight again. But when she’s pressured to sell her stake, Ella is torn between family loyalty and following her heart.

My thoughts on the book:

I really enjoyed this love story. I enjoyed how independent Ella is and how what came across through the whole story was how important her daughter and her well being is. In this story Ella seeks a family and she needs to find who she is in order to find the family she has alway wanted. I really like how the other Monroe's made sure she felt like family and she was just as important as they were. I was not a huge fan of Noah he bugged me at first but he grows on you in the end. This book very much feels like you are catching up with friends and not reading fiction. I loved how clean this book was and how it was a quick and easy read. I can't wait to read more of this series and see what's in play for the rest of the Monroe clan.
