My Review:
I did not read the first book in the series but I am sure it was just as fun as this one. The author touches on some tough subjects which I liked how she did not just sugar coat it, or glaze over it but really showed the human interaction and how it impacts someone in real life. I liked Tanner while he dealt with some tough things and saw things while serving in the military he didn't really let that stop him from living the best life he could. He was a hard head and fought hard for what he wanted. I like Boone man he was fun and even had something up his sleeves. I did like Reese but found that she could be whiny sometimes and jump to conclusions which made her very dramatic. Overall this was a fun laid back read. However this is some adult and sexual content in the story so it may not be suitable for all.

Save It for a Rainy Day Nikki Lynn Barrett Life Won't Wait #4

 Description:

Sam Bennedict has no memories of his life prior to a capture in a war plagued zone. Once a journalist covering the front lines, now he's tormented with nightmares, headaches, and wounds that may never heal. He'd gone MIA and presumed dead, all the while, his family's life went to hell back home.

Now he's returned, trying to acclimate to his new surroundings. Old journals lead him to the niece he left behind, and the woman who adopted her while he was away.

Stacey McGinnis became her brother's guardian at nineteen after a murder/suicide left them alone in the world. She still had plans and dreams, but put them aside not only once, but twice. When a neglected young girl ended up being the one person to save her brother from a painful decision, Stacey knew what she had to do.

When her officially adopted daughter's uncle returns, broken and alone, she will stop at nothing to help him any way she can.

He worries about his quality of life from the after effects of all he went through, and she's struggling with her daughter's changes in wants and needs.

Somehow, the two come together in ways they never imagined, but is love in the cards for these damaged souls?

My thoughts on the book:

Well she freaking did it again, I swear this author's books need to come with some sort of warning, aka this book will need at least two boxes of tissues and maybe one stiff drink, now that I have given you are warning let me tell you my thoughts. This book was SO good but also so emotional and gut wrenching Sam is really going through hell to get back to those he loves but also trying to find who he is. I loved Stacy she always wanted to help those she loves and forgets about herself. I feel like she is so relatable and so someone I feel like I could be friends with. Lily and her story in this just broke my heart I won't give anything away but WOW OH WOW!!! Over all this book was so powerful and so good I really could not put this down and I was glad to read more about Winnie, Parker, Tucker, and Quinn. I can't wait to see where the author goes next with this group but I am sure we all won't be disappointed. For those who are content sensitive: this book contains non-graphic scenes and descriptions of physical and sexual content. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An Everyday Hero Laura Trentham- A Heart of a Hero #2

Description:
From award-winning author Laura Trentham comes An Everyday Hero, an emotionally layered novel about redemption, second chances and discovering that life is worth fighting for.
At thirty, Greer Hadley never expected to be forced home to Madison, Tennessee with her life and dreams of being a songwriter up in flames. To make matters worse, a series of bad decisions and even crappier luck lands her community service hours at a nonprofit organization that aids veterans and their families. Greer cannot fathom how she’s supposed to use music to help anyone deal with their trauma and loss when the one thing that brought her joy has failed her.
When Greer meets fifteen-year-old Ally Martinez, her plans to stay detached and do as little as possible get thrown away. New to town and dealing with the death of her father in action, she hides her emotions behind a mask of bitterness and sarcasm, but Greer is able to see past it and recognizes pieces of who she once was in Ally. The raw and obvious talent she possesses could take her to the top and Greer vows to make sure life’s negativities don’t derail Ally’s potential.
After Greer is assigned a veteran to help, she’s not surprised Emmett Lawson, the town’s golden boy, followed his family’s legacy. What leaves her shocked is the shell of a man who believes he doesn’t deserve anyone’s help. A breakthrough with Ally reminds Greer that no one is worth giving up on. So she shows up one day with his old guitar, and meets Emmett’s rage head on with her stubbornness. When a situation with Ally becomes dire, the two of them must become a team to save her—and along the way they might just save themselves too.

My thoughts on the book:
This book is very different then any book I have read in a while. That’s a good thing the whole story just grabs your attention and sucks you in and before you know it the books almost over. The subject matter is tough with a young girl dealing with the loss of a parent and a guy coming home from war and learning to cope. There’s also so much more to it. I really loved Ally it was simply hard not too. The author will have you laughing and crying through out sometimes on the same page. I felt I was connecting with friends not a bunch of fictional characters. I really enjoyed all the character in the book but the cop I wish in the end Greer would have kicked him where it counts and he would have lost his job. lol!!! There is some adult language and situations through out some may not be suitable for all readers. Overall an amazing read and well worth it, in the end I wanted so much more I just was not read to be doneI received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Each book in the Once a Marine series is STANDALONE:
*The Baby Bargain
*Her Temporary Hero
*Exposing the Heiress

My thoughts on the book:

So whenever I get a chance to read a new author, I am never sure what I am going to get. This author is new to me and I can say I was not disappointed. She has away of grabbing your attention in the beginning and keeping you drawn into the book till the end. The emotions were just jumping off the pages and the author had a way of making the reading really feeling the emotions. I felt I was reading a letter from a really good friend not a story of fiction. I really like what a fighter Becky was she will fight till the end and take no prisoners. I really liked the relationship with Logan and his sister Pam and how she looked up to him and he was willing to fight for those he loved as well. This book flew by, this book does have some strong language and sex in it so it may not be for all readers. But if you are looking for a fun read that just seems to fly this book is well worth the read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Harper Lee Wilcox has been marking time in her hometown of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina since her husband, Noah Wilcox’s death, nearly five years earlier. With her son Ben turning five and living at home with her mother, Harper fights a growing restlessness, worried that moving on means leaving the memory of her husband behind.

Her best friend, Allison Teague, is dealing with struggles of her own. Her husband, a former SEAL that served with Noah, was injured while deployed and has come home physically healed but fighting PTSD. With three children underfoot and unable to help her husband, Allison is at her wit’s end.

In an effort to reenergize her own life, Harper sees an opportunity to help not only Allison but a network of other military wives eager to support her idea of starting a string of coffee houses close to military bases around the country.

In her pursuit of her dream, Harper crosses paths with Bennett Caldwell, Noah’s best friend and SEAL brother. A man who has a promise to keep, entangling their lives in ways neither of them can foresee. As her business grows so does an unexpected relationship with Bennett. Can Harper let go of her grief and build a future with Bennett even as the man they both loved haunts their pasts?

My thoughts on the book:

What an amazing read. This book I would say is a little different, the author writes both the present and the pass, you don't have to guess the author labels each chapter. I loved how you get the current story and the back story but its broken up. This book was super emotional, super powerful and very healing. I loved how each character was super strong, but also had a brokenness to them that made them feel very read. I loved how each character was very much connectable. I loved the role the kids played they added a huge fun element to a very serious book. I loved everything about this book. I will say there is some strong language and some very much adult topics in this book. I can't wait to read more from this series and see what other plans to author has for these character.
This book was hard to put down and I seemed to fly through it, because it was just that good. You can't go wrong with this amazing read.

Kill Shot Susan Sleeman

Description:
Some fears haunt you forever....

As the ballistics and weapon's expert for the FBI's special task force nicknamed the White Knights, Rick Cannon has known the Department of Defense was developing self-steering bullets. Rick feared these smart bullets--which have one hundred percent accuracy that can turn even a novice into a lethal sniper--would eventually end up in the hands of the wrong people. But since the ammunition was still in the development stage, he figured they had plenty of time before that happened. He was wrong. Dead wrong.

Until they become reality.

When a homeless vet is killed with a smart bullet, it's clear that the ammunition has been stolen, and the Knights are called in to find the thief and stop the killings. But they aren't the only ones desperate to find the killer. Therapist Olivia Dobbs is well known for her success in counseling military veterans with PTSD. When she discovers one of her clients moments after he is murdered, she becomes both the FBI's prime witness, and suspect.

Despite the mutual attraction that immediately sparks between them, Rick can't--no he won't--let Olivia interfere with his investigation. But when the sniper trains his rifle on her, Rick must recall all the skills he learned as a Marine sniper to make sure the next bullet fired isn't a kill shot that takes Olivia out.

My thoughts on the book:
Rick is on a special mission and it seems that there could be more to this then meets the eye can he find the bad guys before he looses someone close to him or even worse his own life?
Olivia is just helping her family and going on with life trying to help those she loves and soldiers who are struggling. But it seems that someone may be after her and her clients can she protect those she cares about?

This book was amazing, this book deals with some very tough subjects. I could not put this book down reading late into the night just to see what was going to happen next. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you guessing with every turn of the page from beginning to end. I really loved the team and how they feel like a family all working towards the same goal and all have each others backs no matter what. I want to say one of my favorite characters in this book would be Yolanda she's like everyones favorite great aunt. I loved how this book was a good clean read and romance. This series so far has been amazing and I really can't wait for more. My hope is Shane and Kaci end up together (fingers cross) :-)!!!
