Gathering the Threads Cindy Woodsmall- The Amish Summer Grove #3

Description:

Finally back in the Old Order Amish world she loves,
Will Ariana’s new perspectives draw her family closer together—
or completely rip them apart?

After months away in the Englisch world, Ariana Brenneman is overjoyed to be in the Old Order Amish home where she was raised. Yet her excitement is mixed with an unexpected apprehension as she reconciles all she’s learned from her biological parents with the uncompromising teachings of her Plain community. Although her childhood friend, ex-Amish Quill Schlabach, hopes to help her navigate her new role amongst her people, Ariana’s Daed doesn’t understand why his sweet daughter is suddenly questioning his authority. What will happen if she sows seeds of unrest and rebellion in the entire family?

Meanwhile, Skylar Nash has finally found her place among the large Brenneman family, but Ariana’s arrival threatens to unravel Skylar’s new identity—and her sobriety. Both Ariana and Skylar must discover the true cords that bind a family and community together and grasp tight the One who holds their authentic identities close to His heart.

Gathering the Threads is the third and final novel in The Amish of Summer Grove series.

My thoughts on the book:

Ariana is back home and things just aren't as they were when she left. She seem to upset the "cattle cart" and now it seems everyone wants to silencer her. Can she convince her amish parents she's still the girl they raised but now has a different way of thinking?

I have truly fell in loved with this series and this book sure did not disappoint. I am sad to see that this is the third and final book but am so going to grab more from this author. In this series each character is faced with a secret that disrupts there lives and question everything they know. In this book they are faced with hope, forgiveness, love, grace and healing and facing the anger and hurt of the past and present. I loved how in this book the author continued to throw twist into the story and keep you interested in what was going to happen next. I loved the mystery element in this book that didn't happen in the other books. I loved how this story ended and how the author ended the book with an amazing follow up on what took place with all the characters. I really had a hard time putting this book and you will not be disappointed at all.

This is the third an final book and should read the other books in order.

Fraying the Edge Cindy Woodsmall - The Amish of Summer Grove #2

Description:
Family, community, faith, and love.
These “quilt blocks” sewn together made Ariana’s beautiful life.
When they are pulled to pieces,
will anything familiar remain?

The Old Order Amish life Ariana Brenneman loved vanished virtually overnight with the discovery that she was switched at birth twenty years ago. Now she’s immersed in the Englischer world, getting to know her mother and under the authority of her biological father, an atheist intellectual with resolute plans to expand Ariana’s worldview. Only Quill Schlabach, a childhood friend living Englisch, can steady the tilting ground between Ariana’s two worlds, but can she trust him after so many betrayals?

At the same time, Skylar Nash is forced to choose rehab or spend several months with her true relatives, the large Brenneman family and their seemingly backward life—no electricity, no technology, no fun. What the young woman can’t leave behind is her addiction to illegal prescription drugs and a deep emptiness from the belief that she doesn’t belong in either family.

New ties are binding Ariana and Skylar to the lives they were meant to have. Can they find the wisdom and strength they’ll need to follow God’s threads into unexpected futures?

Fraying at the Edge is the second novel in The Amish of Summer Grove series.

My thoughts on the book:

Ariana is given an ultimatum to spend a year with her bio parents or her dad will sue her amish parents. She is now doing everything they want but the pressure seems to much and she wonders how much more they can expect from her before she can go back to the simple way of living. Sky is given a choice live a year with her bio parents or rehab. She feel like her parents are just trying to dump her and her problems on someone else cause now the have the "perfect" daughter. They are both faced with a new life a new future and new way at looking at things and most of all they need to work through the pain that finding they were switched and now faced with everything. Can the work beyond it and learn to accept there new families or will it all be just to much?

This amish series is completely different then some of the other amish books I have read. This book does not try to even make it seem like the amish live this certain "perfect' life, this book as well as the first one they seemed to be portrayed more as a cult. That being said it made for a very good and interesting read. This book was just as good if not better then the first one. You are all over the place with emotions, you find your self laughing, crying and getting mad. The author did an amazing job with each one of these characters, my heart broke for both girls and what they are faced with. I keep hoping that Quill and Ariana fall in love but I am sure there is so much more fun to come in the next book. Family is super important with amish and it really showed in this series. Hands down this book is worth the read.

This book is part of a series and should be read as such.

Ties that Bind Cindy Woodsmall- The Amish Summer Grove series #1

Description:
Ariana’s comfortable Old Order Amish world is about to unravel. Will holding tightly to the cords of family keep them together—or simply tear them apart?

Twenty-year-old Ariana Brenneman loves her family and the Old Ways. She has two aspirations: open a café in historic Summer Grove to help support her family’s ever-expanding brood and to keep any other Amish from being lured into the Englisch life by Quill Schlabach.

Five years ago Quill, along with her dear friend Frieda, ran off together, and Ariana still carries the wounds of that betrayal. When she unexpectedly encounters him, she soon realizes he has plans to help someone else she loves leave the Amish.
*
Despite how things look, Quill’s goal has always been to protect Ariana from anything that may hurt her, including the reasons he left. After returning to Summer Grove on another matter, he unearths secrets about Ariana and her family that she is unaware of. His love and loyalty to her beckons him to try to win her trust and help her find a way to buy the café—because when she learns the truth that connects her and a stranger named Skylar Nash, Quill knows it may upend her life forever.

Ties That Bind is the first novel in the Amish of Summer Grove series.

My thoughts on the book:
Ariana is faced with some news she would rather have not received and now she just has to find away to keep her family together. She also comes face to face with Quill and face she thought she would never see again. Can she see her dreams come true and help her family or will it all come to head with secrets that are being kept? Quill is back home to check on his mom when he runs into the one girl who has always held his heart and the one person he has never wanted to hurt. But when she finds out he has a bunch a secrets can he convince her he's only trying to help her not hurt her?

This book is really not about a love story I would say I would say this book is about finding out who you are and finding yourself and finding hope when it seems like there is none. I really loved how with this book while there was a little romance stirring the book, the book was more about the importance of family and how important it was to valve and to belong. I really enjoyed that the author did not try and sugarcoat anything, she didn't try and make anyone perfect, but she made each one you interacted with in the story have some sort of struggle. While Ariana and Quill seem to be the main characters in the story there are a few other characters but it was easy to follow who was who and what was going on. I think there was one small tiny part that I loved how over all the story flowed and I found the book completely hard to put down. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Amish Cooking Class - The Blessing Wanda E. Brunstetter- The Amish Cooking Class #2

Description:
Return to the Troyer farm where Heidi welcomes six new cooking class students who experience the healing hand of God.

Despite stressful changes occurring in their lives, Lyle and Heidi once again open their Ohio home up to those seeking to learn about Amish cooking. This time a teenager helping her divorced dad cook for the family, a caterer needing new recipes, a food critic, a hunter looking to impress his buddies, a wife given the class as an unwanted gift, and a mailman lured in by the aroma of good cooking gather around Heidi’s table.

During each class, Heidi teaches culinary skills, but it is her words of wisdom that have a profound effect on her students—though, this time Heidi’s own hurting heart will need some healing nourishment.

This is the second book in The Amish Cooking Class series.
Book #1:  The Amish Cooking Class - The Seekers

My thoughts on the book:
This is a follow up to the first book you catch up with some of the characters from the first book but also get introduced to another group of characters. In this book Heidi and Lyle are faced with some disappointment but also take it in stride and now have a few huge choices to make. Heidi decides to take on a other group of people for this book with teaching cooking. There are six people not including Heidi, however that being said it was not hard to keep up with what was going on. Each person faced something that impacted there life and there story was told. The author did an amazing job making it all flow and not make it seem like to much going on with that many characters. It was also nice to catch up with some of the people from the first book as well. Fair warning though you will feel hungry with the amount of food that is being made through out this book. I liked how Lyle is there and he seems like the silent type but he loves Heidi with such an amazing love that just jumps off the pages. This book has a strong healing and forgiveness message through out and no matter what your being faced with it reminds you to love one another no matter what anyone is going through. This book does not disappoint at all and is well worth the read.

So when she finds a lace thong in her fiancé’s classic cherry-red Camaro, she knows just who she sold it to: her own best friend. In an instant, Sutton’s whole world goes up in flames. . .

Wyatt Abbott has harbored a crush on Sutton since he was a young kid from the other side of the tracks. He witnessed Sutton’s shocking discovery in the Camaro at his family-owned garage—and it made him angry. What kind of man could take lovely, gorgeous Sutton for granted? But then Sutton comes up with an idea: Why not give her betrothed a taste of his own medicine and pretend that she’s got a lover of her own? Wyatt is more than happy to play the hot-and-heavy boyfriend. But what begins as a fictional affair soon develops into something more real, and more passionate, than either Sutton or Wyatt could have imagined. Could it be that true love has been waiting under the hood all along?

My thoughts on the book:

Boy from the wrong side of the river just trying to make a living and help his brothers garage succeed and make a name for its self. When I'm walks the girl who he spent his whole childhood trying to get her to notice him. She finds out a huge secret that he fiancé has been keeping and she hatches a plan, but now she has to convince the boy who was never nice to her to help her out. Can the both help each other of will it all come to a head and blow up in their faces?
This book really was light hearted and fun. I loved how vulnerable the author made Sutton and much spit fire she has in her when faced with something she needs to fight for. I really have fun reading this story how both characters while loved their families, they both seems to have issues with them for each of their own ways. I really loved Wyatt's aunts they are super fun and enjoyable to read. The chemistry between Sutton and Wynn was explosive even though they tend to fight there feelings. I also enjoyed the togetherness of the two towns and no matter what when everyone was in everyones business they still came together to help in times of needs. The book does contain some adult language and scenes, so it may not be suitable for all readers.  This book was super fun and well worth the read.

Give Hope a Chance S.J. McCoy - A Chance and Hope #3

Description:

She thinks he wants to marry her, but he isn't asking—and how can he? As far as she's concerned, saying "I do" is the most important promise you can make.
The future is looking bright for these two, but will the past always overshadow it?
This book is intended for adult readers 18+
**************************

This is the third and final book in A Chance and a Hope series. These are NOT meant to be read as standalone stories and need to be read in order.
Book 1: Chance Encounter
Book 2: Finding Hope
Book 3: Give Hope a Chance

My thoughts on the book:

Chance is forced to come face to face with the past and either put it behind him or keep holding on for dear life. When he is also faced with a decision of where to go to next with Hope. Hope is ready to take this next step in her life and she is all to happy to do it with Chance. But when family and friends starting asking whats next she is faced with weather Chance can put the past in the past and make the biggest promise of all. Can love conquer it all?
This book reminds me of when you use to write your best friend a letter and you had to patiently wait for the rest of the story and it comes and you are already in love with it. The one thing that kind of drove me nuts through out this story was Chance and his second guessing Hope's true motives. I loved how amazing and grounded Hope is. I loved how even when you don't have "family" you make family. I grew up that way so this story I get all to well. I felt like with all that Hope and her Dad had faced that the love that they showed in this book for each other and those in there lives was amazing and truly summed up that love with out end is pretty amazing even in the hurt. I really enjoyed how the author did word plays on there names so in deep points in the book you found yourself laughing. This book is going to make you laugh and cry thats for sure, but its also a great memory of how important love is. This book does have some adult language and scenes but so well worth the read.

The years have not made it easier for Jack to say no to his first love, but saying yes may threaten all he holds dear. Jack may have a solution: marriage–the temporary kind. And how can a girl from the wrong side of the tracks refuse a marriage proposal from her one-time love?

My thoughts on the book:

Jillian has come home and can already feel she is not going to get a welcome mat, she just wants to belong and she has come up with a plan and she's hoping Jack will help her this one last time. Jack has everything going for him he loves his job, he loves his town they all consider him a hero and now he is trying to save a little boy who has become a huge part of his life. When a blast from the past comes to town he is forced to make a choice he normally would not make. Can he salvage this mess that he's been thrown into or will trouble just be to much for both of them?
You can never beat good cowboy story. This small town is no different then every small town america, there is gossip, people who always in your business, everyone has a story they want to hide behind. That is the same case with Jillian and Jack. They find themselves in separate situations where they need each other and the author keeps you hooked just trying to find out what happens next in this crazy town. The love between these two even though they fight it is explosive the author did an amazing job keeping you hooked with the little bit of suspense, a love that was beyond understanding. This book was a super fun read. There is adult language and adult scenes throughout so it may not be for all readers.

Montana Home Kathy Hendrickson

Description:
Carrie Vernon knows her powerful father has no love for her except as a pawn in his evil plans. Receiving a letter asking her to elope with the handsome rancher who’s been courting her, she defies her father to follow her heart.
Hank Anderson has survived on his small ranch with hard work and the sheer will to make it prosper, and he desires the beautiful Carrie by his side. But can he overlook the fact that maybe Carrie is part of her father’s plan?
Will their love and family survive the cruelty of a man bent on destroying them both to get what he wants?

My thoughts on the book:
Carrie is set to do what she wants and not what her dad expects. But what she didn't know was her dad had other plans. Hank is finally happy to have the love of his life in his home and ready to make a go at it with her. But he has a secret and it seems her dad is set to destroy them and he thinks Carrie might be involved. Can the over come the heartache and the loss' to the ranch or will it all be to much for them?
I am not a fan of historical fiction most of the time once in a while I will grab a book such as this one and end up surprised at how much I enjoyed it. This book could also be considered a very modern day read with a few changes and it packs a punch full or suspense which I really didn't expect. I really loved Jeremiah and his role in this book along with Biscuit, I felt like they had such a huge role  and added a fun element to an on the edge of your seat kind of read. I also enjoyed that the author kept the book a good clean read so it would be suitable for all reads. This book was short read and really reminds you of a simple life back in the 1800s when they had a different kind of struggle then we face today. I would highly recommend this simple fun read.

A Matter of Trust Susan May Warren Montana Rescue #3

Description:
Champion backcountry snowboarder Gage Watson has left the limelight behind after the death of one of his fans. After being sued for negligence and stripped of his sponsorships, he's remade his life as a ski patrol in Montana's rugged mountains, as well as serving on the PEAK Rescue team. But he can't seem to find his footing--or forget the woman he loved, who betrayed him.

Senator and former attorney Ella Blair spends much of her time in the limelight as the second-youngest senator in the country. But she has a secret--one that cost Gage his career. More than anything, she wants to atone for her betrayal of him in the courtroom and find a way to help him put his career back on track.

When Ella's brother goes missing on one of Glacier National Park's most dangerous peaks, Gage and his team are called in for the rescue. But Gage isn't so sure he wants to help the woman who destroyed his life. More, when she insists on joining the search, he'll have to keep her safe while finding her reckless brother, a recipe for disaster when a snowstorm hits the mountain.

But old sparks relight as they search for the missing snowboarder--and suddenly, they are faced with emotions neither can deny. But when Ella's secret is revealed, can they learn to trust each other--even when disaster happens again?

My thoughts on the book:

Gage has finally got his life back together after somebody destroyed his career. With the snow creating avalanche like condition he has to protect his mountain and his team, it seems though the past has a way of catching up with you when you least expect it. Ella has not been back in Montana since the last time she saw Gage. This trip is to save her brother from himself before he does something stupid. However it seems that she might be to late. Can she protect the one last person who is related to her, or will Gage send her away even though she is hiding a huge secret?
This book did not disappoint at all. The author has a way of writing suspense thats different then your normal murder mystery. How ever she has a way of getting the readers attention and keeping you on the edge of you seat waiting and wondering what is going to happen next. The other thing I really enjoyed in this book was the way that the author created a mental picture you could almost see yourself there in the thick of the action holding your breath along with the characters instead of reading an account of whats happening. When Gage is forced to face a choice your also reminded with choice that sometime you have to face in order to get pass the past. This book seriously was pack full of action and in the end leads up to the next book which I can not wait to get my hands on. I truly can't wait to see where this group goes next. I also hope to there is a lot more to come. I highly recommend this book. Its the perfect summer read, and if you haven't read the other books in the series grab them to because you won't want to put them down.

Finding Love at the Oregon Coast: A Romantic Novella Collection by Angela Ruth Strong , Christina Coryell, Heather Woodhaven , Lisa Phillips

Description:

When a wedding is cancelled, three bridesmaids and a runaway bride contemplate the true meaning of love in four related romance novellas.

By Heather Woodhaven--Finding Love in Lincoln City: Liz feels stuck at her little beach magazine until a handsome rival sparks more than just friendly competition.

By Lisa Phillips--Finding Love in Oceanside: Anabeth is looking to get out of her rut when a fender bender and a bizarre date with a former marine leads her to a life of love she could never have imagined.

By Christina Coryell--Finding Love in Cannon Beach: Kadence feels the pressure to write a perfect love song, but an unexpected meeting with a musician will have her living one instead.

By Angela Ruth Strong--Finding Love in Seaside: Christina plans to spend her honeymoon alone, but when the bed and breakfast owner offers her a position as cook, she starts to feel at home in his kitchen…and in his arms.

My thoughts on the book:

Finding Love in Lincoln City:   Sometimes finding love takes loosing something or seeing your friends loose something to shake your world up. In this book Liz is faced with a family secret that destroyed her belief in what could be. When faced with the possibility of love or being single she reaches out to God for answers but is she getting the ones she wants or the one God wanted for her. This book was fun love story with a competitive nature back and forth between the main characters looking for love why doing a job the both love.

Finding Love in Oceanside:   After a failed friends wedding Anabeth starts to question her journey. With a few days off she decides to head to her moms in hopes for some time on the beach and some answers. When Mitch crashes into her life she also sees that life could be so much more if she could just get past the doubt. Such a fun book with lots of fun characters. Mitch's dad is old school but seems to have a flare for fun and mischief which is evident in this story. I love how just like the previous story the draw of the ocean cities is a way to find peace and connect with God while finding hope for the future

Finding love in Cannon Beach:  Two awkward closet geeks have one big thing in common music. Can music bring the through the brokenness and help them find what they are looking for? In this book Kadence is left more confused and frustrated with life after her best friends wedding ends with no one married her parents ask her to stay with and aunt and she seeks comfort in the quiet beach life. Foster has a bit of a gypsy spirit and is happy for now helping those in this small Oregon town. The thing about this story that seemed to confuse me a little was the awkwardness between the main characters and some times the pull towards each other didn't make sense but seemed forced. I did however enjoy the eccentric Nan she seemed to have a small role that packed a large punch and not someone to be double crossed

Finding love in Seaside:   Christina is faced with weather or not did she make the right choice when she decided to leave her Ex-fiance at the alter. She feel like in her heart it was the right choice but when she takes a honeymoon all alone and comes face to face with reality her head and her heart just don't seem to be adding up. In this story while short like the other three it seemed to flow well and seemed like there was more to come with Dave and his brothers. I liked  while Christina is faced with so trials it didn't seem to weigh the story down and the author used characters like Sam to add a light  hearted fun loving feel to the story. I think out of  all of the four stories this had to be my favorite. Christina and Dave both seemed to find looking for healing in the brokenness, and it made them super relatable.

All three friends seem to have their worlds rocked by one friends decision to not get married but tried to find healing in all the craziness. I enjoyed that all the stories were tired together and all the stories seem to have a purpose each different. I was not a fan of all the stories but the others made up for it and it was nice to read a good clean christian romance story. Definitely a good summer read.
